PORTLAND, Maine — Police in Maine’s largest city are investigating a trio of fires that broke out overnight Sunday, including two at apartment buildings at which tenants were asleep.

The first call came in at 8:27 p.m. Sunday, and authorities responded to 1121 Forest Ave., where a fire burning between a garage and an apartment building was quickly extinguished, Portland police Lt. Gary Rogers told the Bangor Daily News.

A second call came in at 1:44 a.m. Monday for burning debris between the second and third floors at 55 Grant St., Rogers said. The third fire was at 12 Boynton St., where a wooden exterior fence was burning.

Nobody was injured in any of the fires.

“You get three like that in a short period of time, it’s highly unusual,” said Rogers. Police are investigating.
