LEVANT – Kathy (Jenkins) True, 57, passed away Nov. 13, 2011, surrounded by her family at her home. She was taken into God’s hands after a courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born May 24, 1954, in Bangor, daughter of the late Everett Jenkins and Kathleen Jenkins Staples.
Kathy grew up in Bangor and worked in a variety of professions. She worked for Maine Department of Transportation, Hillshire Farms in Wisconsin and St. Andres Group Home, to name a few. She was a woman of strong faith and with her kind heart, positive attitude and unconditional love she encircled the lives of her family and friends. She really enjoyed spending time with her family, she liked taking motorcycle rides with Ronnie and loved her trips to the ocean, especially her trip to Hawaii with her kind friend, Kathy Harvey, where her dream of swimming with the dolphins came true.
Surviving are her loving husband, Ronald A. True of Levant; two children, whom she loved deeply, daughter, Shannon Knowles and her husband, Milton, of Levant, and their children, Brady and Brody, and son, Shawn Miles Sr. and Shawna of Hermon, and their children, Shawn Jr., Noah, Stephanie, Shaylee and Lakin; her mother, Kathleen Staples and husband, Carroll, of Levant; mother-in-law, Jean True and Charlie of Bangor; brothers and their families, Rodney, Henry and Sonny; sisters and their families, Dotty, Maria, Donna, Penny and Robin; sister-in-law, Barb and Ron of Hampden; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends, all of whom she loved very much. She was predeceased by her youngest brother, Richard. Kathy and her family give special thanks to Dr. Berg and nurse Toni at CancerCare of Maine and New Hope Hospice for all their support.
A funeral service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the service.
