SEARSPORT – Roy Clayton Dakin Jr., 61, died unexpectedly Nov. 12, 2011. He was born June 2, 1950, in Searsport, son of Roy Clayton Dakin Sr. and Gertrude Annie Dakin.

He graduated from Searsport High School, class of 1968. He was the owner of M & R Builders and Sons, and Dakin’s Miniatures as well as many other businesses throughout the years. He loved hunting and fishing, especially with his boys and his best friend, Loren Bagley. He loved motorcycling and spending time on Searsport waters. In the 1970s he enjoyed volunteering with Searsport Fire Department alongside his uncle, Dan Rich.

He is survived by his fiancee, Kim Ashey; two sons, Scott Dakin and special friend, Jenifer, and Nick Dakin and his wife, Jami; one beloved grandson, Brayden Dakin; and Kim’s sons, Caleb and Casey Ashey; two brothers, George Pattershall and his wife, Nancy, and John Dakin; one sister, Carol Anderson; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many longtime friends, including Loren Bagley, and Judy and Larry Saglio. He was predeceased by friend, Toby Ward.

Viewing will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Young Funeral Home, 31 West Main St., Searsport. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Searsport United Methodist Church, Route 1, Main Street, Searsport. Burial will be held directly after the funeral services at Gordon’s Cemetery, Route 1, West Main Street, Searsport.
