LEVANT – Verla M. Lindsey, 75, wife of the late Edward Lindsey, died Nov. 14, 2011, at a Bangor hospital with her family by her side. She was born Aug. 8, 1936, in Mapleton, the daughter of Harry and Mapely (Wood) Carmichael.

Verla worked for many years in area retail department stores in the food service department. An amazing outgoing woman who loved life, Verla was a dedicated homemaker and was devoted to her family. She loved the time she spent with her daughter, son-in-law, grandson and especially her great-grandson, Dakota. She was an excellent cook, and loved to garden and shop. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann Wilcox and her husband, Walter “Bub” Wilcox, of Levant; two grandchildren, Eddie Wilcox of Levant and Tanya Wilcox of Bangor; a great-grandson, Dakota Wilcox of Levant; one sister, Cynthia Carmichael; and a brother-in-law, Vaughn Clark, both of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 2002; and two sisters, Thora Kinney and Glenda Clark.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Snows Corner Cemetery, Hermon, with the Rev. Rick Lambert presiding.
