HOWLAND and LINCOLN – Wilda S. Cobb, 91, wife of the late Lester A. Cobb, passed away Nov. 21, 2011, at a Howland health care facility. She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Washburn, daughter of Jarrard and Grace (King) Smith.
Wilda was a member of First Congregational Church of Lincoln, Pilgrim Daughters of the church, and worked for many years on the Annual Riverdrivers Supper. In her earlier years she was a homemaker and loved to knit, crochet, read, and go dancing and go camping. Many will remember her smiling face as hostess at Rosebowl Restaurant, where she worked for many years.
She is survived by three daughters, Theola “Teddy” Pelkey and her husband, Gerald, of Lincoln, Deanna Fournier and her husband, Ron, of Gray and Zephyrhills, Fla., and Leslie Cobb and her partner, Doreen McCafferty, of Lincoln; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by five sisters, Theo Whalen, Evelyn Danforth, Marjorie Clifford, Ruth Bartlett and Edna Burnham; four brothers, Paul King, Clarence, Lawrence and Byron Smith; and a granddaughter, Karen (Bailey) Caron.
A celebration of life will be held noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, ending in prayers by the Rev. Darrell Joiner. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
