OLD TOWN and CASTINE – Joseph Sewall, 89, died Nov. 23, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Old Town, the son of James Wingate and Louise B. (Gray) Sewall.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents; wife, Hilda (Wheelwright); son, Joseph W.; and four siblings. He is survived by a son, David; daughter, Abigail; granddaughter, Elisabeth; sister, Elizabeth Gary; cousin, Louise Moody; nephew, James Page; great-nieces, Alexandra and Hannah; as well as friend and companion, Meredith Hashey.
Interment will be private. Those who wish may make gifts in his memory to the Joseph Sewall Scholarship Fund, care of Maine Maritime Academy, 5 Pleasant St., Castine, ME 04420. A service of Brookings-Smith, Bangor.
