PORTLAND, Maine — Portland authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing of a man that occurred Monday evening.

Portland police Lt. Gary Rogers said that officers and EMS personnel were dispatched to 991 Forest Ave. for the report of a stabbing.

Authorities later identified the victim as Carlos Ramos, 47, of Portland.

The cause of death was a stab wound to the chest, according to an autopsy on Ramos’ body that conducted in Augusta on Tuesday.

Rogers said that police have “interviewed several people,” including a woman who has been staying at the apartment with Ramos, but “nobody is in custody.”

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call the Portland Police Department at 874-8533.
