SILVER RIDGE – Frederick G. Atkinson, 74, husband of Annie (Spinney) Atkinson, died Nov. 29, 2011, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Silver Ridge, the son of William and Nellie (Merrill) Atkinson.
Fred enjoyed attending music jams and watching the Boston Red Sox. He was a member of Senior Citizens and Sherman Alumni.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Annie, of Silver Ridge, he is survived by his children, Douglas Atkinson and Mary of Silver Ridge, Beverly Lane and Danny of Sherman and James Atkinson of Sherman; grandchildren, Danielle and Rich Parks, Doug Atkinson Jr., Danny Jr. and Sarah Lane, Michael Lane and fiancee, Amanda Post, Devin Rudge and Derek Atkinson; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Bailey Atkinson, William and Brenden Lane; sisters, Iva Goodwin, Helen Crooker, Beulah Krueger and Laura Jordan; several nieces and nephews; his special cat, “Curly”; and a special friend, Peggy Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Jamie Atkinson; siblings, Marjorie Laclair, Faith Kneeland, Virginia Thornton, Throdara “Toots” Rush, Merrill Atkinson, Lois McAvoy, Edna, Audrey and James. The family thanks Visiting Nurses of Aroostook for all their loving care given to Frederick.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at Silver Ridge Cemetery. There will be a lunch served at Sherman Recreation Department after the service.
