PRESQUE ISLE – Wayne C. Nickerson, 60, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at home with his family, after a brief illness. He was born March 12, 1951, in Presque Isle, son of the late Pastor Darold and Idella (Craig) Nickerson.
Wayne was a lifelong member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1954. He worked and managed Northern Lanes Bowling Alley. Wayne had a true passion for bowling and he participated in many Eastern Maine tournaments. He was also an exceptional carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Jo-Ann (Walker) Nickerson; daughter, Jodi Nickerson; and son, Craig Nickerson, all of Presque Isle. He also leaves behind three sisters, Darlene Stewart and her husband, Jack, of Castle Hill, Cheryl Taubin and her husband, Jim, of High Point, N.C., and Laura MacFarline and her husband, Bruce, of Presque Isle; brother, Dale Nickerson and his wife, Linda, of Presque Isle; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 10 a.m. until time of funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Bethany Baptist Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Dr. Ken Phelps, Pastor James Ackerson and Pastor Bernard Brown officiating. Interment will take place after the service at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
