HAMPDEN and BRUNSWICK – Sally Anne (Wiggins) DeLong, 72, passed away peacefully Dec. 3, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at a Portland hospital. Sally was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Houlton, daughter of the late Garald E. and Phyllis (Cunliffe) Wiggins.

Sally grew up in Houlton, where she was a 1958 graduate of Houlton High School and a member of the National Honor Society. She married Alvin DeLong and moved to Hampden, where she made her home and raised her three children. Sally worked for many years as a medical office manager in Bangor, retiring from Dr. Mark Eggleton’s dental practice. After her retirement she moved to Brunswick.

For many years Sally was an active member of Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed quilting, among other activities, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren.

Sally will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

Sally is survived by her three loving children, Sue Cyr and husband, Brian, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Elbridge DeLong and wife, Beth, of Blue Hill and Amy Minton and husband, Ethan, of Brunswick; grandchildren, Anthony Cyr and wife, Jess, Andrew Cyr and wife, Robin, and Ben Cyr, all of Iowa, Anna DeLong and fiance, Joakim Sandman, of Sweden, Adam DeLong of Blue Hill, Miranda Valentine of Portland, and Sally Minton of Brunswick; her brother, Robert Wiggins and wife, Rosalie, of Hampden; as well as many other extended family members and close friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Sally’s life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church, 44 Kennebec Road, Hampden, with the Rev. David Nicol officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sally’s honor may be made to Maine Medical Center Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, care of Development Department, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04102.
