WAYNESVILLE, N.C. -Jennie Fer, 93, died Nov. 8, 2011. She was born in Poland and was a survivor of the Lodz Ghetto, Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen concentration camps.

She and her husband, Bennie, settled in Boston in 1950. She was a proud member of Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union. She spoke at various Yom Ha Shoah events and was in the film “Breaking the Silence.” She will be missed for her courage, sponge cakes and pleated skirts.

There will be a service in Mrs. Fer’s honor 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18, at Congregation Beth El, Bangor. Donations may be made in her memory to National Holocaust Museum at www.ushmm.org.
