BANGOR and BREWER – Richard G. Kondor Sr., 62, passed away Dec. 20, 2011, at his residence in Bangor. He was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Bridgeport, Conn., the son of Gaza F. and Maryann (Tvardzik) Kondor.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Navy as a chef aboard ship. He worked for Osram-Sylvania as a machinist for 18 years and then worked at Walmart for five years until he retired. Richard was a member of East Orrington Congregational Church. He enjoyed finding treasurers with his metal detector, playing bingo, and fishing. More than anything he was a devoted husband and loving caregiver who took wonderful care of his wife, Valerie. He was a loved husband, father, brother, son and friend, and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his mother of New Hampshire, he is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Valerie (Montgomery) Kondor; two children, Richard G. Kondor Jr. of Bangor and Lynnar Brown and husband, Leroy, of Trenton; and two sisters, Susan Ayers and husband, Brian, of N.H., and Luann Kondor of California. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a sister, Diane Kondor.
Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. with Pastor Carl Schreiber, pastor of East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in the spring at Marston Cemetery, Orrington. The family invites relatives and friends to a small gathering after the service in the Board Room of East Orrington Congregational Church.
