ORLAND – Wilma C. Brooks, 94, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, in her beloved home in Hardscrabble, where she was born Oct. 25, 1917, to Adelbert and Maggie Marks.
After attending schools in Castine and Bucksport, she married Stanley Brooks and they made their home in Bucksport and Orland. During this time, she started her career at St. Regis paper company in Bucksport, where she worked mostly in personnel for nearly 40 years. Upon retirement she spent her time gardening, knitting, crocheting and cooking.
She is survived by two sons, Terry and wife, Alice, of Winthrop and Dan of Bangor; a brother, Milford and wife, Maxine, of Penobscot; two grandchildren, Karen Grasso and husband, Ernie, of Chelmsford, Mass., and Michele Butler and husband, James, of Rockland; and four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by nieces, Maureen Gerow, Marilyn Jewett, Jackie Thomas and Claudeane Gross; and nephew, Bryant Marks. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Marvin Gray and Marshall Marks; and a sister, Ethel Leach.
Visiting hours will be held 11 a.m. until the time of service 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
