BANGOR, Maine — A Veazie man was behind bars Tuesday after police charged him in connection with an armed robbery at a Bangor hotel last week.

Jeffrey Denis, 31, was arrested at his residence at 9 a.m. by Bangor police Detectives Tim Cotton and Brent Beaulieu along with officers from Veazie, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.

On Dec. 21, a man entered the Fairfield Inn on Odlin Road, brandished a firearm and took off with an undisclosed amount of money just after 9:30 p.m., according to police. He subsequently fled on foot, and a police K-9 unit tracked him, but he got away at the time.

Denis was charged with Class A felony robbery and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Tuesday afternoon, according to Edwards.

If convicted, Denis faces up to 40 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

  1. Must needed money for christmas gifts, or drugs.  Kind of stupid, he will probably get a year if that

  2. I’d otherwise comment, but everything I would have to  say would only encourage more people to do this

  3. He doesn’t look remotely affected.  Yeah, the neck tattoo……gross on so many levels.  Hope these numb people have an arsenal of turtle necks for the nights they want to plan their robberies.  Ahhhhh, if you want a tattoo you may want to put it somewhere else.

    1. The neck tattoo, the best way to say “don’t take me seriously” when applying for a job.  Maybe he bemoan that point at his sentencing and try to say that is why is needed to steal….

  4. I know him… he’s one of my parent’s friends. he’s actually really nice… and I’m pretty sure he got the neck tattoo for one of his kids.

    1. I don’t know many “nice people” who commit armed robbery…..just sayin’…..and to think I just went out and got one of my kids a gift certificate to a local restaurant……Crazy…..

  5. Actually this guy was a long time buddy of mine.. and sure if he did this, he effed up big time.. and sure it was probably over drugs, I can only imagine.. but he was a good friend back in the day and a good person- just sayin for all you ‘more-rightous-than-thou’s out there.. He worked in a family owned tattoo shop, thus the over abundance in tattoos- something he always loved from a young age.. something most ‘normal’ people won’t ever understand..  So just to be clear I’m in no way shape or form defending his alleged actions- I’m just reminding you that its easy to judge from behind a screen, especially when you know absolutely nothing about the individual.. so stand high on your soap boxes and cast your stones.. I think jesus would forgive him first for this stupid isolated incident, before he would forgive all of this worlds arrogant, close-minded, pseudo-saints.. have a wonderful day! :)

    1. I have known this person for 31 years!  I think the key word in this post is “Buddy”
and that is what makes all the difference, Jeff has and has had many “Buddy’s”
over the years and even a lot of folks that thought he was a friend.  The funny thing is that when you talk to
folks it’s always the same old story… oh BACK IN THE DAY he was a good guy,
bla, bla, bla.  Yes he did work in a
tattoo shop that was owned by a family member until he was “FIRED” for imagine
this, stealing from the shop.   Yes, Jeff
has always enjoyed drawing and sketching stuff, but he never pursued being a tattooist,
that would have taken some level of effort and commitment.  Now I am not going to go near the who Jesus
is going to judge or for what… but I will say there is no soap box in this post
and this was not an isolated incident… an escalation yes but isolated no, he
has been convicted for robbing several FAMILY members, breaking and entering into
Family members’ homes and a list of other shop lifting and break-ins that were
not relatives’ property.  So, it looks to
me that you don’t know this man as well as you let on or you are trying to paint
a portrait that is not even close to the truth.
Just some facts before anyone else decides to make a judgment call from
behind a screen…  Dropped out of school
and got GED, Father of Four with three different women, hasn’t had a single job
for more than 1 yr.,  can’t get in a
rehab because he isn’t an addict, has been arrested and convicted several times…
are you getting the picture yet!!!  Jeff
has always looked for the easy way out of everything, if there is a low road he
is on it.  I don’t see that changing
ever, some people are just lazy.  The sad
thing about this entire mess is, the one thing that Jeff probably learned from
this is, Hotels and Motels don’t keep a lot of cash on hand, and most people
pay for a room with a credit or debit card.  Well, I just wanted people to know a little
bit about the person they are reading about.
The thing that makes me sick is that there is no friggin justice system
      left in Maine…  I just
can’t get my mind around this messed up Drug Court crap that keeps putting
criminals back on the streets, day after day.
All these thugs have figured out how to use the system to get back
on the streets.  If you sit in on a court
day you will hear all of these criminals say “I needed drug money” oh, ok well
we can put you in the drug court program and you can go rob someone else or
maybe you will kill someone next time.

  6. Actually this guy was a long time buddy of mine.. and sure if he did
this, he effed up big time.. and sure it was probably over drugs, I can
only imagine.. but he was a good friend back in the day and a good

worked in a family owned tattoo shop, thus the over abundance in
tattoos- something he always loved from a young age.. something most

  7. Sounds like someone from Veazie. I had friends that lived there and had several encounters with weird drivers in that area. I was walking back from a local store and one man in a truck swerved into a large mud puddle just so he could splash me. Which didn’t bother me that much but it was the end of November and the roads were slick. He could have skidded off the road at the speed he was driving.  Another time some guy threw a beer bottle out a car window at me when I was walking up the sidewalk. There was this other time when a friend of mine was crossing the street and a woman swerved into the wrong lane just to scare her. I guess she didn’t like her crossing in that area and was trying to prove some crazy point. But my friend was almost across the street anyway, and the woman driving had to leave her right lane and cross the left just to swerve at her. Also don’t get me started on some of the rude business owners in VZ and how obnoxious some of the cops are. It doesn’t surprise me to see this tattooed punk comes from Veazie.

  8. addiction is a said thing, and makes people do crazy things. He was friends with my older brother years ago so i know who he is and its a sad thing when drugs take over your life. & the so called gun was a bb gun not a real gun.

    1. Like the clerk knew that wasn’t going to kill him! Just put his eye out maybe?
It would seem that life In NYC has jaded you to how people feel up here…
