BELFAST, Maine — A Belfast man who allegedly sent 28 threatening text messages and photographs in less than 12 hours was arrested this weekend on a slew of charges stemming from the incident.

Tyler J. Damon, who was staying on Miller Street in Belfast after being released from jail last week, apparently had a conflict with a man in Unity, according to Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Between midnight and 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 24, Damon is alleged to have sent the “life-threatening” messages and photos to the man, including pictures of him holding a gun, Trafton said. Investigators found that the other man had replied to the messages with pleas for Damon to leave him alone.

“Damon was truly the aggressor,” Trafton said Tuesday.

Police who arrived at Damon’s residence to arrest him found him very uncooperative, according to the chief deputy.

“He told the officers they weren’t going to take him to jail,” Trafton said.

Police had to place Damon in leg restraints in order to take him to Waldo County Jail. Once there, they put him in a restraint chair. He continued to struggle, at one point spitting on an officer.

Damon was charged with assault on an officer, terrorizing, refusing to submit to arrest, violation of conditions of release and harassment. He is being held on $2,500 cash bail at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset.

  1. ship him to Afghanistan, take him up in a plane, give him a parachute and throw him out of the plane..You think he’ll learn??They just love infidels over there

  2. For 19 has a long criminal history.  From May 2010 BDN: Tyler J. Damon, 18, of Stockton Springs, two counts assault, disorderly conduct and refusing to submit to arrest.  Also arrested this past September, then again in December.  Apparently he doesn’t like being arrested.  Good luck with that.

  3. another career criminal that will most likely be released then move up to a more heinous crime.

agreed with catdoghuey, people like that is why i carry.

  4. The police should look at this man’s facebook, he was a ticking time bomb that went off….READ FACEBOOK PROFILES

  5. Obviously this young man needs serious mental help, it’s a shame the only place in Maine for people with mental issues to go anymore is Prison or Jail, they have closed down most, if not all, of the mental health hospitals.

    1. Not every punk that breaks the law has mental issues.  You bleeding hearts really make me sick.  Sometimes people do bad things because they are just plain MEAN, BAD people.  I know you want to psychoanalyze him and find out if he had a bad childhood and all that crap but cmon, how many times does he need to be arrested before he realizes, Maybe he needs to try something else…like, for example, FOLLOWING THE LAW…..geesh

  6. 2500 in bail, are you kidding me?? He has a previous criminal history of being vilent and was out on relaese conditions for yet another crime when this happened. Hold this guy without bail, he’s a danger to the community. Whatever judge set this bail amount needs to wake the heck up!!!!
