WELLS – Jacqueline Borello Ponders, 75, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at her residence after a long illness. She was born Jan. 29, 1936, in Millinocket, a daughter of Joseph and Mary (Cesare) Borrello.
She grew up in the Millinocket and East Millinocket areas, where she graduated from Sterns High School. She then attended Husson College, Bangor. Jacqueline was a legal secretary in Bangor for many years. On June 29, 1964, she married Billy Wayne Ponders. She followed Billy to several postings during his military career, culminating in his retirement from active duty at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. After his retirement, they settled in Wells, where they lived for the past 30 years. Jacqueline enjoyed flowers, gardening and cutting the grass; she loved to cut the grass! Spending time with her grandchildren was her passion. She was a good, decent person, a devoted friend, and a prankster.
Jacqueline is survived by her loving husband, Billy Wayne Ponders of Wells; her son, Billy Wayne Jr. and his wife, Kim, of New Hampshire; her sister, Gloria Powers of Medway; and her two grandchildren, Jacob and Seth.
Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 111 Chapel Road, Wells, where a memorial service will be held 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at First Baptist Church, 2 Oak St., East Millinocket. Spring burial will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made in her memory to Beacon Hospice, 42 Brickyard Court, York, ME 03909. Arrangements are in care of Bibber Memorial Chapel, Wells.
