GARDINER, Maine — Police are looking for a man who stole prescription narcotics from a Spring Street pharmacy Monday.
Gardiner Police Chief James Toman told the Portland Press Herald a man walked into the Rite Aid at 9 Spring St. at 2:13 p.m. and went to the back of the store where he demanded drugs.
Police did not know if the man had a weapon and no one was injured in the robbery, the Press Herald reports.
The man left on foot and ran west on Spring Street. Maine State Police, with a tracking dog, and the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office were unable to locate the man, Toman said.
The robber was described as a white man about 5 feet, 8 inches tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark green fleece and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt under the fleece with the hood up over his head. The man hid his face with a bandanna and wore light-colored, baggy blue jeans and white sneakers.
According to police, a witness saw the suspect without the bandanna and said the man had stubble on his face and appeared to be in his 20s.
Toman asked anyone with information on to call Gardiner Police at 624-7076.

Another Rite-Aid drug store robbery !! ??
I heard the thief was covered in blanket and got away on a pogo stick.
Even the K9 couldnt find him.
This is what the occwallstreet group was fighting for. wasn’t it?
Free EVERYTHING?
Must have had a magic carpet and just flew away. No need to get a perscription anymore. Just go into a pharmacy and demand your drugs and they just hand them over. No weapon needed.
Nothing better than a generic description of the perp. It could be anyone.
This is just getting insane. It’s to the point I consciously use the drive thru at my pharmacy as a safety measure, and even then worry if the kids and I will wind up in the crossfire of a robbery. Between this and all the crazies hopped up on bath salts in the ER’s, our health care is at risk in yet another way. I do wonder if the robberies will get even worse if MaineCare is cut and people can’t get their meds legally, especially narcotics. Deep breath, crazy times abound.
I think its sad that I go unarmed when I visit the oldport but when I go to rite aid I grab the 9mm out of the glovebox.
