FARMINGTON, Maine — The Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating the detonation of an explosive device on a roadway in Farmington.

Steve McCausland from the Maine Department of Public Safety says explosive debris collected by investigators is now being analyzed by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Neighbors heard the explosion Monday night and saw a vehicle leaving the area. No one was hurt, and there was no damage.

Fire marshal investigators were assisted at the scene by the state police bomb team and Farmington police.

  1. Tragic.
    Glad no one was hurt.
Luckily there were no houses nearby.
    Just abandoned pastures.
Perhaps surveillance cameras got a photo.

    1. Why, pray tell, would anyone want to surveil abandoned pastures with no nearby houses with cameras?

  2. Oh sorry I can clear this up, that was just my head when it cost 250 bucks to register my 10 year old $2000 car this morning
