BAR HARBOR – Daisy Levensailor Porter passed away Jan. 4, 2012, in Bar Harbor, after a long illness. She was born May 8, 1925, in New Limerick, daughter of Archie and Mabel Ackroyd Levensailor.

Daisy was an active volunteer in her community and was at her best when in charge of a fund raising event. Daisy was a longtime member of Eden Baptist Church.

Daisy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Merval C. Porter Sr.; daughter, Linda Sawyer and husband, Gerard; daughter, Robin Porter; son, Merval “Rocky” Porter and wife, Susan; daughter, Debra Edge and husband, Steve; son, Timothy Porter and wife, Margaret “Maggie”; two sisters, Francis Hopkins and Pamela Levensailor; one brother, Hudson Levensailor and wife, Rosie; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many special nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to her parents, Daisy was predeceased by one brother, George Levensailor; and two sisters, Jean Levensailor and Gloria Hall.

At Daisy’s request, there will be no services. A reception for friends and family will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Merval and Daisy’s home, 5 Porter Settlement Road, Bar Harbor. A spring burial is planned. Contributions may be made in Daisy’s name to Eden Baptist Church, 1044 State Hwy 3, Bar Harbor, ME 04609. Arrangements by Acadia Burial & Cremation Direct, 248 State St., Ellsworth.
