BETHEL, Maine — Police say a registered sex offender living in Bethel has been charged with sexually abusing a teenager.

Rumford Detective Sgt. James Bernard says 27-year-old Christopher Lee Sheldon was charged Thursday with two felony counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Sheldon was held overnight and is expected to be arraigned Friday.

Bernard tells the Sun Journal that on New Year’s Day police received a complaint from a 16-year-old girl who told them she had been involved in a sexual relationship with Sheldon starting when she was 15.

According to the Maine Sex Offender Registry, Sheldon was convicted in 2005 of unlawful sexual contact in Androscoggin County Superior Court. He is required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

  1. Once a pedophile always a pedophile! Probation doesnt work for these guys, keep them in jail for god sakes!!

    1. Awww, c’mon! Maybe he has a wounded inner child? Low self esteem? Let’s give him a third chance.

Or maybe give him a stump, a nail, and a rusty hacksaw…

  2. Too bad she didn’t report it when it first happened, but for any number of reasons she had to put up with this creep’s antics.
Castration is the only remedy for any pedophile. They’ll never stop on their own!

  3. The sooner the country stops treating this like a ‘sickness’ and keeps these creeps in jail, the better off all will be.

Wake up, there is no cure!  There is no rehabilitating!
