BETHEL, Maine — A local man is accused of holding a gun to a woman’s head and not allowing her to call 911.

Brian Piawlock, 53, is charged with domestic assault, obstructing the report of a crime, criminal restraint, aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and violation of condition of release, according to police records.

On Tuesday night, Deputy Matthew Noyes of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of domestic violence. According to Noyes’ affidavit, the woman said Piawlock wouldn’t let her leave the residence. She said he disconnected the phone when she tried to dial 911.

Piawlock was arrested and charged with domestic assault, obstructing report of a crime and criminal restraint. He bailed after posting $1,000, according to Noyes’ report.

The next day, Noyes received an anonymous tip that the woman hadn’t told the whole story. Later, the woman said Piawlock had threatened her with a shotgun and hit her with the butt of the gun, the affidavit said.

Noyes found Piawlock at the woman’s residence, which he had been ordered not to return to. He said Piawlock denied the incident with the shotgun or that he owned one. Noyes arrested Piawlock on Wednesday night on charges related to new claims of violence as well as Piawlock’s violation of bail conditions.

On Friday, Piawlock’s bail was set at $1,000 unsecured bond.

  1. Guy gets arrested, pays $1000.
Guy does exactly what he was told not to.
     Guy gets arrested, pays $1000.
Guy probably is back terrorising the poor woman.

How long before guy runs out of money to feed the machine, or kills the poor woman?

  2. More proof that Maine doesn’t give a damn about domestic violence victims.  Obviously, the courts don’t think she is worth protecting.  Probably just a tiff between the two and besides it MUST be her fault in some way, so she must deserve to be held hostage and terrorized.  Nice going Judge.

    1. but if woman kills abusive guy then she goes to prison and gets a crazy tag nailed to her for protecting herself.sorry if someone guy or woman ever tried to be abusive towards me or my family they r going 6 feet under( problem solved no more abusive person and state/tax payer’s saves money)

  3. I think she needs to have a gun and shoot him the next time he comes through her door!!!! I’d call him up and invite him in!!!

  4. Everyone should own a gun?  There are too many people like this, threatening and killing with their guns. I’ve never heard of so many violent men committing acts against women, why is that? A man is supposed to love his wife, not threaten or kill her.

    1. How do you know it was his wife?
Yes, everyone should own a gun and know how to use it properly, safely, and effectively…

        1. You said it was his wife, so you professed to information that you did not have… kinda like your gun comment.

  5. The law must be changed to hold a person (man or woman) who has violated the domestic abuse law to be held until their trial.

    1. While you are on the right track, how does one determine that a person has violated the domestic violence law until they go to trial??? That would invite a LOT of false accusations.

      1. The courts give the protection from abuse orders. Then the local police departments are notified. So there’s no excuse for letting these abusers free. The law should be if they break the order they stay locked up until their trial plain and simple!

        1. Yes, it should. BUT again, the police have no authority to hold someone without bail. It is the courts and bail commissioners.

  6. Why the same bail amount after violating bail? This guy is clearly dangerous and his bail should have been set much higher to protect public safety. I hope she found some place safe to be because he is not going to give up easily it seems.

      1. Guys like him never get what they deserve. He’ll walk until he kills her then he may get time.

  7. So where is commentator “outdoorman” who claimed in a prior post that all households need a gun? Oh, and apparently JonathanKlondowski feels the same way.  Does that include Mr. Piawlock’s home too? Should he, like everyone else, have a gun?

    1. Many years ago my friend’s boyfriend shattered her car window and threatened her with a gun. He later went on to become a corrections officer and makes good money at it. She eventually married him. She is a RN so she is not completely stupid. That kind of violence makes me run away from someone not towards them.

  8. is charged with domestic assault, obstructing the report of a crime, criminal restraint, aggravated assault, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm by a felon and violation of condition of release      AND all this will get him bout 1 maybe 2 years in jail then he’ll be back out and doing it all over again.
