PORTLAND, Maine — Their January cleanup complete, OccupyMaine protesters are holding a “grand re-occupation” of Lincoln Park.
Sunday’s event follows a cleanup in the Portland park where demonstrators have been camped out since Oct. 3.
Jennifer Rose, one of the demonstrators, told the Portland Press Herald that the weekend cleanup was focused on clearing away unoccupied tents and refurbishing the area, in preparation for Occupy protesters making their way by bus from Florida.
The newspaper says protesters took down unoccupied tents, stacked unclaimed blankets and piled up discarded pillows and mattresses on Saturday.
The group aims to call attention to growing economic disparity in the U.S. The city has ordered the protesters to leave the park, but they’re suing to stay put.

In other news…. Greyhound is reporting record ridership on all east coast lines from miami through portland maine.
In a statement by regional supervisor Joe Schmoe, he says that occupymaine has spurred business, not only on the buses but from repair companies fixing everything from vending machines to portable toilets that have been destroyed by protesters.
Sales of febreeze and lysol have increased as well.
Shame, shame on them for supporting the greedy corporate masters at Greyhound.
