LINCOLN, Maine — A local man was being held at Penobscot County Jail late Tuesday after police charged him with terrorizing his wife with a firearm, officials said.
Terry Libby, 54, of Lincoln was charged with terrorizing and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.
Libby surrendered to several police officers and a state trooper at his MacKenzie Avenue home after they were called there about 6:30 p.m. Saturday by family members who said that Libby was depressed and had a firearm, Police Chief William Lawrence said.
Libby allegedly fired one shot sometime during the incident, wounding no one. Police Officers David Cram and Mark Fucile and state Trooper Larry Anderson took him into custody quietly shortly after they arrived at the house, Lawrence said.
Police took Libby to Penobscot Valley Regional Hospital for evaluation and then to the jail, Lawrence said.
Libby is being held on $1,060 bail and is due to appear at the Penobscot Judicial Center on March 6, a jail spokesman said.

I too am curious about that figure on two counts: why so low, and why not at least rounded off to the nearest hundred?
Some Judges don’t care about domestic violence. The sad part is that once the DV victim is killed then the ‘system’ wonders how it could have been prevented. I’m sure if the judges had been terrorized with a firearm, then the bail would have been much higher.

Threatening with a gun, BAIL set at 1,060 dollars ya got to be kidding! Bail, why not warm his butt in jail till March 6th?

There are a lot of depressed souls out there…but they don’t whip out a gun on their loved ones!!
Bet if you check into it, Judge is somehow connected to this guy. That explains the $1060 bail.

You all sit on your fat butts, with nothing better to do than read the BDN and comment your arrogant opinions about a man, without knowing the entire story. Trust me, if you knew Terry, or the entire story, I am certain that most of you would comment with sympathy, not harshness. This man needs help, he has issues, and simply throwing him in prison will not fix them. None of you really give a damn, as soon as you are done reading this story, and posting your “one sided” comments, your lives move on, and you never care to find out what REALLY happened. I am truly saddened by this story, for EVERYBODY involved, including Mr. Libby.
Sounds like prison is the kind of help he needs, not some high priced psychiatrist on my tax dollars.
Your tax dollars will be paying for his prison stay as well. While his
actions do require consequences, my point was simply that people should
not berate the man, because of a few “facts” that are in a one sided
