PORTLAND, Maine — Maine health officials say the state had nearly four times more cases of whooping cough last year than in 2010.
State epidemiologist Stephen Sears says 204 cases of the disease, also known as pertussis, were reported last year. That’s up from the 53 cases a year earlier.
Sears tells Maine Public Broadcasting Network that whooping cough is a cyclical disease and that cases tend to go up every three to five years.
He says many of the cases were concentrated in the period from September through November and that activity has since died down.

So much for forced immunizations — a police state type of program. You don’t have to get them but you won’t be allowed to do anything if you don’t. And what’s even more stupid is everyone has vaccinations but if you don’t society does not want you to be around those that are immunized but, if they are immunized, why worry? Isn’t that what the shot of mercury is for, to prevent the disease? People need to get themselves educated about vaccinations. I had a couple of them growing up, now there are literally hundreds of them and a bunch of kids running around with asthma and autism and a whole host of medical problems.
Yes, you do need to get educated about immunizations. There is no link between immunizations and autism, you can find that out if you were to do real research about immunizations not read quasi-medical blogs whose main purpose is either making money or attention.
The reason non immunized people are a risk is that immunizations do not give 100% immunity to some illnesses. If we lose the “herd” immunity then outbreaks can occur even among immunized people. Herd immunity is when 90 – 95% of the group is immune to a disease therefore minimizing the risk to the whole herd of an outbrak of that disease occuring.
Asthma is a immo-deficient disease and autism’s causes are not fully known at this time.
Here is a good source of information about autism

Babies can die if they get whooping cough. Mothers can receive a booster after their delivery- If THEY choose to, to protect their baby. So please do become educated about immunizations, for your own health and the people you may come in contact with.
No, you don’t have to get them. Just don’t send your kids to public schools and infect others if you get any childhood diseases. Absolutely ZERO link between autism and vaccines. That claim has been shown to be totally bogus.
Still at it, “entitled”? Cut the balderdash about vaccinations, especially the mercury, bogus autism and asthma links, etc. Also check the other responses. If your so out of touch, non-factual, and hyperbolic on this issue, can we assume the same validity for your other repsonses? Guess so.
Read the book “virus mania” for a different perspective on immunization
How different? From the article or from Entitled? If the latter, the only value would be to see where he gets his bogus information.

While I am not against immunization, I must ask why it is that immunized children are catching the diseases? Maybe the vaccine doesn’t really work? Just asking.
