LEBANON, Maine — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the York County Sheriff’s Office broke up a suspected drug-making lab in the basement of a house at 25 Bigelow Road in Lebanon on Saturday.
A homeless man from the Augusta area, Aaron Lowden, 41, was arrested on a bail violation and will face drug-manufacturing charges once chemists have determined what he was concocting in the basement. The lab was discovered by the homeowner, Deborah Wilson, who had allowed Lowden to stay in her basement. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the house about 12:30 Saturday afternoon and MDEA’s Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement Team arrived early Saturday evening equipped with protective suits and respirators. The suspected components of the drug-making operation, including a Coleman stove, beakers and glass tubes, were removed and the team cleared the home about 2 a.m. Sunday. Lowden is being held at the York County Jail.
I’m sure they were all just gathered at that residence to deliver their Publishers Clearing House winnings.

How much harm has the present drug policy done? We already know how successful they have been but now,the policies are causing more harm than the drugs they are fighting would.
Because prohibition turns manufacturing and distribution over to criminals,instead of industries that can be monitored for purity and product quality and turns distribution over to criminals that do not check the age of their customers and add the health issues that would not even exist if not for prohibition.
21 million people arrested for marijuana crimes alone since 1972,,,and more available all the time. Great job DEA,,protecting your jobs and spending money.

If we didn’t have the scumbags smoking/dealing with marijuana we wouldn’t have the problems we have, so don’t be blaming the hard working people who keep it minimal on the street.
I couldn’t care less who smokes pot… I’d rather see money spent on stopping bath salts, meth labs, trafficking, OUIs…. Who care about someone smoking some pot, sitting home watching tv and eating junk food. It’s the most harmless “drug” out there, it’s chemical free and it doesn’t cause people to hurt other people.
I don’t see how you get scumbags or get that selling pot has caused all these other drug problems that are out there….

Where in this article does it say anything about 50 drug enforcement officers being there? I talked to a fireman and he said there were about 10.
BDN changed the story. The original had no idea why they were at that location and the headline started with “More than 50 drug enforcement officers”.
There isn’t even 50 drug agents in the State of Maine. They were referring to not just agents but all emergency personnel at the scene. Way to take part of the sentence and run with in. Read it again.

yes and it said drug agents and emergency workers. You just decided to stop reading after agents and put your own spin to it to justify your overtime comment. You have no way of knowing if there was any over time involved but again you have jumped to conclusions without any facts.

Luckily most homeless people don’t own dogs,,10 officers in the original party,,then the clean-up bio-filtered crew,unknown size of that overtime drawing party.

None of what you said made the least bit of sense. If this was a legitimate meth lab then the house could have blown up. Let’s risk that.
Well I didn’t read where they found any brake cleaner, drano, carburetor cleaner or any of the other stuff that the geniuses usually “cook” to make meth, so maybe he was heating up some chicken noodle soup on his coleman stove.
Cops get paid just the same, and maybe the owner of the house was nice looking to boot, so they didn’t waste the day.
