PORTLAND – Maurice “Moe” Ducharme passed away on the morning of Jan. 9, 2012, after a long illness. He was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Lewiston, to Adrien and Bernadette (LaPointe) Ducharme.
Moe is survived and dearly missed by his beloved daughters, Deb Ducharme-Steward of Hampden and Vickie Ducharme of Portland; beloved grandson, Logan Steward of Hampden; his remaining siblings who were all very dear to him, including sister, Charlotte Francoeur of Millinocket, brother and sister-in-law, O’Neal and Patricia Ducharme of Palm Harbor, Fla., and brother, Richard Ducharme of Lewiston; favorite sister-in-law, Christine Ducharme of Lewiston; his weekly companion and “adopted” daughter, Brooke Butler; his close friend and former neighbor, Sister Jude Murray, who had a magnificent impact on Moe’s life and vice versa; several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He was predeceased by his son, Dale. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to Dr. Laura Blutstein for the many years of care and attention she provided, together with the staff of VNA Home Health and Hospice who helped make his journey more pleasant.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date at Basilica of Saint’s Peter and Paul, Lewiston. Maurice Ducharme will be laid to rest next to his son, Dale Arthur Ducharme at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Somersworth, N.H.
