EASTPORT – Gladys E. Moholland, 86, died Jan. 13, 2012 at the Eastport Nursing Home.

Gladys was born June 29, 1925 in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, Canada to Ralph and Bessie (Earle) Brown. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Nash and Mary Ellen (Earle) Brown.

Gladys was a member of Washington Street Baptist Church, Eastport, now known as Cornerstone Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook and well known for her delicious fish chowder and apple pie. Gladys worked for many years at Mearl Corporation, Eastport, before moving to Machias with her late husband who was then the sheriff before returning home to Eastport. Gladys’ first marriage was to Heber Tittermary and they had a daughter, Ellen.

Gladys was predeceased by her husband, Reid L. Moholland; and her sister, Edith E. Turner. She is survived by her two daughters, Ellen T. Brown and her husband, Michael, Holly A. MacNichol and her husband, Stanley; two sons, Kim I. Moholland, Mark C. Moholland and his fiancee, Elizabeth Connelly; two stepsons, Alan Crosman and his wife, Carol, and Chester Moholland; and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Moholland; four grandchildren, Michael Brown Jr., Jason M. Brown and his wife, Natalie, Sarah E. MacNichol, Scott A. MacNichol and his fiancee, Rosena Crossman; and five great-grandchildren, Halle Jean Brown, Alexis and Karigan Donahue, Brayden G. MacNichol and Nolan R. Brown. She is also remembered by her best friend, Jacqueline Davis.

A graveside service will be held June 30, 2012 at Hillside Cemetery, Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Cancer Care of Maine, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Brewer, ME 04412 or a charity of your choice.
