STEUBEN – Nancy Lee Norton, “Nana,” 76, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, with her family by her side, ending her courageous battle with cancer, at Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility. She was born June 11, 1935, in Harrington.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Vernon C. Norton; and her four children, Bonnie Wilbur, Randy Norton and his partner, Bettye Colby, Gregory Norton and his wife, Margaret, Brian Norton and his partner, Susan Fitzpatrick. She was the grandmother of Randy Norton Jr., Brittany Norton, Hayley Norton, Ryan Norton, Kimberly Wilbur, Chelsey Norton and Tyler Norton; and great-grandmother of Ryder Magoon. Nana was predeceased by one grandchild, Joshua C. Norton.
Nancy worked for many years at L. Ray Packing, Milbridge. She enjoyed playing Beano and spending time with her grandchildren. She also was a very devoted New England sports fan. Nana loved to cook for all her family and always made sure no one went hungry.
Per her wishes, there will be no funeral and a private gathering for the family will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Narraguagus Bay Healthcare Facility in appreciation for the excellent care she received. Condolences may be sent at
