ORONO, Maine — Two University of Maine football players have been charged with assault and criminal threatening after a fight in which pellet guns were used.

Aamad Bush and Malik Walker, both 18 and freshman defensive backs, were charged in the incident Wednesday.

Police say the two entered a room in Somerset Hall uninvited when Bush allegedly shot another football team member in the side and arm with the pellet gun. Bush and the player got into a fight. Police said Walker then allegedly shot one of the room’s resident’s in the arm with his own pellet gun.

Police said 33 pellets were recovered from the room.

Both players are from New Jersey. Bush, 6-foot-3 and 193 pounds, is from Montclair and Walker (5-11, 175), is from East Orange.

  1. Incidentally, the ‘Similar Articles’ are – as usual – ludicrous. Surely one of those layers of editors and fact-checkers beavering away at the BDN could eyeball ’em for relevance now and again?

  2. Cosgrove must be proud. Maybe we should not recruit so many players from New Jersey , and more from Maine. Its not all about winning.

    1. Maine kids do stupid things too. Anyway, if these NJ kids were not apart of the UM football program, what would they be doing?

    2. ya good one, David – that makes sense – recruit Mainers to play DB…that would work out real well. they wouldn’t be able to cover anyone from the South, they’d lose almost all their games, and you & everyone else would be on here commenting about how bad the team was & how “they” should fire Cosgrove

      1. I don’t care if Cosgrove has a job $160k a yr $240 with benifits, look at all the money colleges spend on sports? only lost 7 million last yr. That is tax payer money or students that do not play sports money……………………………………………………………………

        1. I can’t even understand what you wrote. Football connections fundraise a lot of their own budget, and hook the school up with stuff too!

  3. if they get real guns maybe they could do each other in and save every one fromwhats to come of them

  4. Maner on the WBB team lost her scholarship and was kicked off the team because of stealing from her teammates.  Which begs the question:

Which is worse, stealing from your teammates of shooting them???????

For once I would like someone at UMO to do the right thing instead of some lame game suspension like they’ve done in the past.
