CHICAGO – Mary Ellen Therese McGuigan, 64, died Jan. 13, 2012, at a Chicago hospital. She was born June 11, 1947, in Chicago, daughter of James J. and Lorraine M. (Schinkoeth) McGuigan.
She attended St. Matthias Grade School and graduated from St. Gregory High School in 1965, both in Chicago. Mary taught ballroom dancing and later became a legal secretary. She had a great love for dogs and participated in numerous dog shows with her own very special Sherri. Mary had a generous and loving spirit. Along with her own unique Irish charm, wit and personality, she will always be remembered for her tender heart and gentle nature. Though she suffered emotional distress all her life, she never lost her faith and hope in God and his loving kindness. It was God’s mercy that led her home to heaven.
A loving sister, Mary is survived by her siblings, James Joseph and Carrie McGuigan, Margaret Katherine and Al Jellison, Charles and Jill McGuigan, Thomas and Julie McGuigan, and Dennis McGuigan and Stacey; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and dear friends. Mary deeply loved Donna McGuigan, Barbara McGuigan, Liz McGuigan and the late Georgeann McGuigan. Mary was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Therese Ann McGuigan; and two brothers, Donald McGuigan and Raymond McGuigan.
Family and friends may visit 3-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service honoring Mary Ellen’s life will be held 7 p.m. as the visitation concludes.
