BANGOR, Maine — A Dexter woman was charged with drunken driving after she hit a parked unmarked police car and then a second police vehicle just 25 minutes after Barnaby’s bar closed early Thursday morning, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
Amanda Wirrell, 24, was charged with operating under the influence after she hit the two Bangor Police Department vehicles while backing up in the parking lot of the Odlin Road bar, the sergeant said.
After hitting Lt. Tim Reid’s unmarked car, but before officers got a chance to speak with her, Wirrell put her car into reverse and backed into the second police vehicle while officers nearby yelled at her to stop and Reid honked his horn twice to no avail, Edwards said.
Reid, who leads the detective division and was working a security detail at Barnaby’s, initially was told a vehicle had been hit in the parking lot about 1:25 a.m. He went outside and discovered it was his unmarked police car that had been hit, Edwards said.
The bumper of Reid’s car had a dent in it and there was snow transfer, the sergeant said.
Reid got inside his car and was speaking to Officer Joe Baillargeon and Sgt. Larry Weber, who had arrived to handle the accident, when Wirrell backed into Weber’s command vehicle, Edwards said. There was no damage to either city vehicle.
Wirrell appeared to be intoxicated and was taken to the police station and given an Intoxilyzer test. Her blood alcohol level exceeded the state’s legal limit of 0.08, and she was charged and then released, Edwards said.

like a good neighbor, state farm is.. there
Jerry, is your car up a pole again??
HAHAHAHA! I love it!
I just bit my lip!
no it is in the garage. lol
Wow, one more cop car and she could have scored a hat trick….”charged and then released”…..now that’s gonna make her think twice about ever doing this again…..right??
by the way it’s written, this woman didn’t even get arrested. she was brought to the station, given an intox test. written a summons and released… your kidding me right?? this woman strikes 2 vehicles, let alone cruisers; and thats just while backing up in the parking lot… imagine if this woman acctually made it to the open road, if not the interstate… and you DONT arrest her?! WTF?! Maine justice system at it’s best!!!!!!!!
imagine if she were man
SO sad it’s funny as hell though aint it?
honestly i find nothing humerous in this what soever… had she been able to leave that parking lot theres a very high probability that she would have seriously injured if not killed someone. and the fact that she isn’t in jail shows down right ignorance on behalf of the police dept and the legal system. this woman will be out and drinking and driving again if she hasn’t already since her summons. and when she kills someone, IMO the police dept should be held responsible for releasing her WO an arrest and booking in to the jail and state system…. as Jeff stated above, if this was a male subject he most definitly would have been arrested, and yet; thats the least of the reasons this whole shituation irritates the he!! outta me…
Police shouldn’t have been their in the first place. Unless their called the only reason they would be their is to bully and ride herd on people. The parking lot is not city property and does not need all this police protection.
Aren’t the police on detail there every night? Just curious…I thought they were always there @ the door.

They have to monitor all the hot spots where illegal activity is likely to happen, right? Glad you aint a cop, you would have all the cruisers and unmarked cars setting in the motor pool.
Dear prudefrombangor, Sorry to have upset you but have you ever seen a Buster Keaton movie or watched ‘Worlds Dumbest drivers”? If someone would have taped the whole fiasco, she could have easily funded her up coming slap on the wrist and half the annual police budget. If you need some real Bullcr*p to rail about, just read ANY court and make note of all the DUI, DWI, and operating on revoked license and note the leniency given even the repeat offenders. You also didn’t read my later comment about holding her a min. of 24 hrs. to sober up either did ya?
this story kinda and the police department kinda sent a message here that shouldn’t have been sent. and that message is if your in a parking lot at a local night club, and your to drunk to even back out of your parking spot, as long as you haven’t left the parking lot yet, and you haven’t hurt someone, we won’t take you to jail. we’ll just take you to the police station for an intox test for evidence and then release you with a summons. that way if you plan it right you can be our drinking and driving again with in 60 minutes…. R E D I C U L O U S
She would be in the hoosegow if she had a seed of weed on her.
….
“There was no damage to either city vehicle.”
Great story. pffffft.
Bangor Drama News.
If you’re gunna drink and drive, its not usually a good idea to hit cop car :D
One more reason to avoid the Barnyard…When the honeys come down for Dexter Night
Man…you better watchout for that ” snow transfer” hehe…all kindin aside, glad she hit the cop car and didn’t get out on the road
Of late there seems to be statewide problem with drunk women attacking cruisers. That poor guy in South Portland had his door ripped off and another cop had to stop the completely loaded cape liz woman. And some of the commentors blamed HIM!
Should have kept her at least 24 hrs to sober up for her own safety. Just like the good old days.
Her blood alcohol level exceeded the state’s legal limit of 0.08, and she was charged and then released,
Did she drive herself home?
Probably.
unlikely
Not 1 but 2 police cars….drink much?
Barnaby’s, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.
Why didn’t they charge the bar room. Its illegal to serve and intoxacated person and they sold her enough to get her this way and know she is the one who has to pay the price and they get to keep their profit.
Why not charge her cable provider for not having something on worth watching to keep her at home?
Lmao..now thats funny right there!!!!
To report an enforcement crime, contact “ipledgemysacredhonor”. “We’re here to protect you”
Now THAT’s funny right there!
I can’t believe no one has said Welfare Wednesday yet.
nothing like a wild night in dexter. they make this sound like it dose not happen all the time. lol
