HOULTON – Richard Allen Miller, 71, died Jan. 31, 2012, surrounded by his family at Maine Medical Center after a long illness. He was born May 19, 1940, in Houlton, the son of Weldon and Jessie (Cummings) Miller.
Richard lived and worked in Houlton all his life. He worked as a foreman for Ward Log Homes for 35 years, retiring early in 1999 after an injury. He attended Houlton Wesleyan Church. Richard loved hunting and being in the woods, building and making things out of wood for anyone that asked. He also loved making toys for his grandchildren anytime they asked or if he thought they needed his help. He was called the person that could fix anything that broke.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lilia (Lyle) Miller of Houlton; four sons, Richard “Rick” Miller and his wife, Susan, of Patten, Robert “Robbie” Miller and his wife, Shelley, Roger Miller, and James “Jamie” Miller and his wife, Heidi, all of Houlton; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, William C. Miller and his wife, Madeline, of Presque Isle; many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. Saturday at Houlton Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Wayne Robertson and Maj. Richard Lyle officiating.
