OLD TOWN, Maine — An Indian Island man who was speeding on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning was stopped after he tried to pass an Old Town police cruiser, Capt. Kyle Smart said Monday.
Jeremia Goodall, 34, was driving northbound about 95 mph around 3 a.m. when he started to pass Officer Lee Miller near mile marker 183.
“That apparently is when he realized who he was passing and decided to slow down,” Smart said.
Miller pulled Goodall over and reportedly found alcohol in his back seat. When Goodall was given an Intoxilyzer test, his blood alcohol level “was just shy of three times the limit,” Smart said.
The state’s blood alcohol limit for motor vehicle operators is 0.08.
Goodall was charged with operating under the influence and taken to the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor. He was allowed to give $20 from his wallet to his passenger who used the money to get a cab home, Smart said.

Almost 3 times the limit and 95 mph? Thankfully the officer was in the right place and the right time. The outcome could have been worse!
Why do these stories always say ‘ the State’s limit is 0.08 when that is the limit Nationally?
It’s like when we got the same lecture about bath salts in every story last summer/fall.
Sorry for the rant, but just maybe someone will notice and stop it….
You are right .08 is the National Limit, however each state has it’s own rules and laws – I’m pretty sure that there are some States that have a lower limits around .05. Also, some states have enhanced penalties depending on how hic the BAC levels are.
I agree, and thank you for your input. What you said ‘should’ be common knowledge.
But I was speaking in the context of Maine only, and the BDN in particular. I doubt that the AP would have sent this out for national consumption. :)
All this crap from Indian Island lately. It seems like you read about one or two every week. It probably doesn’t help that they have to go through Old Town to get off their island.
First of all Mr. you think you Knowitall617 to my knowledge this person doesn’t even live on the Island so I don’t know why that was reported that way, secondly we are just like any other small town who has their troublesome residents. Do you not read the paper daily there is way more “crap” from other towns then just Indian Island.

Most small towns have more residents than indian island. Per capita indian island seems to be on top right now. Why did you change your name to guest? Also why is it politically incorrect to call them indians, when that is what they call themselves?
yep, let em build a bridge off the island using their own money and a road kinda like golden road. Then the ot residents will be safe, 95 drivers? not so much, which is where he got caught btw.
