ABBOT, Maine — A local man and his female accomplice were arrested for burglarizing an Abbot home on Thursday and walking away with more than $10,000 in cash, said Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Guy Dow.
Camille Gagnon, 36, was arrested on Monday and charged with Class B burglary and Class B theft. His girlfriend, Amber Crocker, 27, was arrested on Friday and faces the same charges. They live together in Abbot.
“A lady came home from work and noticed that her door had been forced open and her bedroom was ransacked,” said Dow. “She realized she was missing her safe and a significant amount of money.”
Dow said Crocker drove to the residence and dropped off Gagnon. A bakery across the street with surveillance cameras captured the incident.
After dropping off Gagnon, Crocker walked to the bakery and talked with the owner before driving off.
“We get a good view of her [on the camera],” said Dow. “She leaves and heads north and comes back to check on [Gagnon]. Like 12 minutes later, [Gagnon] comes into view on the north side camera.”
Taken in addition to the safe and money were a collection of coins, including state quarters. Video from a convenience store shows Gagnon buying items with the quarters.
“He went in and bought some beer and cigarettes. He paid for it in quarters,” said Dow, adding that state quarters also were found in Crocker’s vehicle. “It shows him stacking the quarters up.”
Dow said neither the money nor the safe has yet been recovered.
“We’re still working on that,” he said.
Crocker was arrested on Thursday but is out on $600 bail. Gagnon remains in Piscataquis County Jail in Dover-Foxcroft. He’s not eligible for bail because he was already out on bail from Skowhegan District Court in connection with another case.

Watching Crocker I hope.
heh, they didn’t count on big brother being around in Abbot ….
They were arrested on Thursday? Um….Today is Monday….Is the BDN using Passenger Pigeon for news now?
I supposed had it happened in Portland, it would have been front page within minutes.
Perhaps before you say something stupid (too late), you could learn to read. The burglary happened on Thursday. One person was arrested on Friday and the other arrested today. Make sense now?
Thursday, Friday….Still took 3 days to hit the paper, therefore, my comment stands.
Gagnon could have EASILY hidden the money ANYWHERE in 3 days…. Why did they track her down first, and him second? He’s already had many other offenses…
Maybe they tracked her down first because they thought she would have the money? Nobody knows who actually had the cash. They were actually tracking both of them at the same time, they just got Amber first.
I have a strong feeling that Amber was forced into this… I know her personally, and she’s not the kind of person that would do something like that… (As my friend says, im a ‘classified creeper’) I put those skills to use, On my background check, i found that Camille has like, ten other offenses… And it seems possible he’d do something again.
People like this are lucky when the cops get em..
That money is long gone by now. All $9,400 of it.
i see what you did there
This is so wrong for them to go and rob some innocent persons money and invade their space. Where are their morals and respect! I thought by now you would grow up you all need help! I hope this person can get their belongings back what ever is left of it.
Sad . glad they will face time for this.
Need new bail commissioners. The bail should have at least been half the amount stolen. With a $5000 cash bail half her money may have come back instead only 600 came back.
