CORINTH, Maine — Maine wood pellet manufacturers are meeting with a U.S. Department of Agriculture official to discuss the future of the pellet industry and its economic impact in the state.
Dallas Tonsager, the under secretary for USDA Rural Development, will be at the Corinth Wood Pellets plant in Corinth on Thursday to meet with the heads of Corinth Wood Pellets, Geneva Wood Fuels, Maine Wood Pellet Co. and Northeast Pellet Co. The president of the Maine Pellet Fuels Association will also be on hand.
Officials say discussions will center on the impact pellet companies have had on the economy through jobs and by giving homeowners and businesses a money-saving heating fuel alternative.

Here comes one of those “Deals” the government is always talking about. “Hi, I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” What they really want to know is how they can tax the Industry or how to control it. We are screwed………………….
I am sure its already taxed. Next paranoid idea?
They will go to the corinth company and tell them how they can build a better pellet and take more pollutants out of them and then tell them they have to play ball the way the government wants or they will have to mandate restrictions and eventually they will be out of business ! THE END ! No PARANOIA INVOLVED , look at past actions ! They predict the future !
Get set up to heat with Maine made Wood Pellets!
HALF the price of oil, BTU for BTU.
Think about it then Try it.

I think you are missing the point. Yes, wood pellets are half the cost of oil BTU to BTU for now and a lot of us have made the change to pellets. But as i see it, if something works and is cost effective of course the government wants part of the action. They will regulate it and tax it because they see a cash cow. Soon the price of pellets will not be so attractive.
Yup, sort of like those 50 mpg carburetors being “bought up” by the oil industry years ago……..
My father designed one that he thought would get around 100 miles per gallon he went to patten office their were already a couple hundred similer design’s pattanted all owned by oil company’s.Wish he would have built me one be4 he died lol.
if an agreement is reached for some kind of a deal, get ready to pay out your noses for a ton of pellets….these kind of talks always lead to higher prices…
