ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla., and RAYMOND – Merton E. Round Jr., 67, passed away peacefully Feb. 4, 2012, at Bailey Family Center, St. Augustine, Fla., due to complications of lung cancer.
Mert was a graduate of Orono High School and then served three years in the U.S. Army. In 1969 he graduated from Husson University, Bangor, and received his Master of Business Administration degree from Babson College, Wellesley, Mass., in 1974. A certified public accountant, Mert spent the bulk of his career as chief financial officer of King-Size, Inc., Brockton, Mass.
He was predeceased by his parents, Merton E. and Doris L. Round; his eldest brother, Michael H. Round, all of Orono; as well as his son, Lt. Col. Christopher E. Round, U.S. Air Force, of Omaha, Neb. Mert leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Martha M. Round; his son, John A. Round and grandchildren, Maia and Camden, of Keene, N.H.; his daughter-in-law, Dorothy H. Round and grandson, Craig, of Williamsburg, Va.; his siblings, Mary B. Smith, Serena H. Smith and Fred E. Round, all of Maine; plus numerous nieces and nephews, and a plethora of wonderful friends.
