CAMBRIDGE, Maine — A fire started by a man who had a dispute with the homeowner destroyed a Dexter Road residence late Thursday night, according to state police.
Stacy Lee Gourley, 43, of Harmony was arrested by state fire marshals and charged with arson, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Friday evening.
Gourley also was charged with reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, along with other offenses, said McCausland. He said he didn’t immediately know what the other offenses were.
“It all stems from a confrontation with the homeowner,” said McCausland. “All I know is that the back of his house was on fire after a dispute with the man.”
Maine State Police and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene, along with state fire marshals.
Gourley was taken to Somerset County Jail in Madison.
Cambridge Fire Chief Robert Folsom said nobody was hurt in the blaze, adding that fire crews got the call a little before 11 p.m. Thursday and were done around 3:30 a.m. Friday.
“The downstairs was fully involved when we arrived,” said Folsom. “We were able to knock it down with an interior attack. The structure is still standing, but there’s significant water and smoke damage.”
The fire was difficult to extinguish because because of blown insulation in the walls and attic.
“You have to dig this stuff completely out,” said Folsom.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating the fire, said Folsom.
The Harmony and Guilford fire departments provided assistance.

And another fine piece of reporting by Alex Barber.
Another “pillar” of the community…
Just seems like another case of someone snapping on a bully… I’m sure all his life with people calling him girly has taken it’s toll mentally. ( kidding )
i’ll huff and i’ll puff and i will burn your house down
Interesting how a body can be so out of proportion to the mind…..(trying to be nice, but what a neanderthal!).
What’s his looks have to do with anything? I’m sure a mug shot of your face would look beautiful in the papaer.
I know it’s judging by the cover, but in this case only the first few paragraphs inside tells me that the cover was right. :)
Maybe I should have said ‘what a neaderthal in his actions’, but I assumed people would know what was meant (silly me).
It will probably look as good as your ability to spell. Stop trolling.
Who was the homeowner? Nice reporting?
One has to feel very sad for his children. Many people shouldn’t reproduce, so sad. Hope they aren’t learning by his example.
