PORTLAND, Maine — A prominent lawyer and civic leader can no longer practice law in Maine.
The Maine Supreme Judicial Court has suspended Warren Turner of Yarmouth for numerous violations of Maine’s rules of professional conduct, including failure to respond to clients, to return their property or to appear at some court hearings. He also didn’t show up at three hearings before the board of overseers’ grievance commission to respond to complaints.
Turner served on the Yarmouth Town Council at various times between 1979 and 2003 and was once chairman of the Cumberland County Civic Center boards of trustees.
The Portland Press Herald said Turner could not be reached for comment by phone or email.

What a joke, They sent him on vacation. They could have at least charged him with contempt.
And why is this in the “Business Section”?
so… let me get this right, 1. this LAWYER(person who is supposed to DEFEND his CLIENTS) took peoples money for services that weren’t renderd?? yup pretty sure according to state law, that constitutes as theft. 2. this lawyer failed to return property to it’s rightful owners- at minimum this also constitutes theft, if not grand theft depending on value… and the board of overseers only found it fitting to make it so her can’t practice for awhile?? hmm… people steal candy bars in old town and get arrested, this lawyer steals peoples belongings any they don’t see it fit to forward their findinds to the District attorneys office?!? . . . another prime example of our broken justice system…. way to go state of maine
