PORTLAND, Maine — Police are on the hunt for a man they say robbed a Big Apple store on Washington Ave. early Tuesday.

Police Lt. Gary Rogers said the suspect was armed with a knife, threatened the clerk and demanded cash when he entered the store just before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“There was just a clerk in there. No other customers were in there at the time,” Rogers said.

The man escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is a black man in his early 30s, stands between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs between 150 and 170 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Portland police at 874-8533.
