LUBEC, Maine — Three Lubec residents were arrested on Saturday after Washington County sheriff’s deputies executed search warrants that yielded seizure of hundreds of doses of the prescription drug alprazolam, weapons and cash.

One of those search warrants was executed in Lubec at a home at 138 North Lubec Road. Seized there were unprescribed prescription pills, firearms and cash.

Those arrested include Ashley Bragg, 23, of Lubec, who is charged with aggravated trafficking in Schedule Z drugs, a Class C crime. Also arrested was William Feltner, 28, of Lubec, who is charged with unlawful possession of Schedule W drugs, Class C, and Amanda Bragg, 25, of Lubec. Amanda Bragg is charged with unlawful possession of Schedule Z drugs, Class E.

Smith said Washington County deputies and agents with the U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service have been investigating the illegal importation of prescription drugs into Lubec for several months.

All three were taken to the Washington County Jail in Machias.

Smith said that, pending further investigation, other arrests are possible.

The Maine State Police assisted in the execution of the search warrant in Lubec, Smith said.

      1. They must have heard about the opportunity that awaits in WC, I think we now know their reasons…..  throw away the key!

        1. LOL!! But I do need to correct you on one aspect…….It’s no longer a “quarterly”……..it’s now a weekly!

  1. Note to Ashley and Amanda: This isn’t a school picture.  You didn’t have to smile nor put your hair up.  If a benefit of getting arrested is a free photography session, well I’m happy the WCSD were able to help you out with that.

  2. And don’t forget to update your Facebook status!  “It was like going to the prom…  we road in the back of a nice car, had our pictures taken…”

  3. I’m sure their parents are just “So Happy”… Law Enforcement, Keep up the great work! There are more out there…

      1. yeah really, this has been going on for years in maine, and getting worse.. no future. when will it ever stop? how come the prescription drug companies that make all this are never held accountable?

        1. You think this is just Maine?  I visited some folks in Missouri a couple of years ago, and that State makes Maine look like a  Woman’s Christian temperance meeting.

        2. For the same reason auto-makers are not held accountable when someone like you drinks too much and plows into a school bus. It is about time people start accepting responsibility for their own actions.

      2. Who says there parents are alive or even in there lives? So why don’t you keep your mouth shut, about something you have NO idea about! You’ve got no idea what those 3 people have gone through…ya they may have broken the law but how many jobs are there in Lubec Maine that will hire a woman with a record trying to change there lives??… Not to many, and then if they went to get assistance then all of you would be crying about your POOR TAX DOLLARS! Just because it’s wrote in the paper, doesn’t mean it’s gospel!

        1. Katie SAVE IT…. Know what they have gone through? It dosent take a genius to figure out there are ways to make money legally…. going to a methadone clinic isnt a JOB… And every working man/women has the right to complain about TAX DOLLARS when they are contributing to people like this. Maybe you speak from personal experience cause i dont think anyone with sense and morals would be in the defense. I know I hate seeing my TAX DOLLAR go to methadone “JOBS”.. There are many jobs in Maine that will hire people trying to get their lives on track, and when they go to WELFARE OFFICE they should ask about that instead of trying renew or increase their benifits!!!

    1. Xanax?  Same drug Whitney Houston abused, and the State of New Jersey lowered the flag to half mast (by gubernatorial proclamation) on the day of her HUGE send-off.

Too bad these Lubec folks can’t sing.

        1. So then you are on Donnie Smith’s side of the argument against health care professionals and their wholesale dispensing of dangerous medication?

          1. The converse problem is that Washington County has quite a few cancer patients.  Some years ago the voters vetoed a “right to die” bill which would allow people in last stage cancer (or other terminal disease) to elect to end their lives with a Doctor’s assistance.

So now we are stuck with the moral quandary of deciding exactly what we will allow these people, in extreme pain, to do.

    1. I have friends who work for R.H. Foster, The Machias Savings Bank, Dave Whitney, Ellsworth Building Supplies, Hannaford, Blue Bird, The Down East Community Hospital and a number of other larger businesses.  There are also the people who have small businesses of their own.

I can’t find ANYONE who wants to upholster my stuffed chairs, build custom storm windows, or bake a prune danish like Nola Green used to do.  There are holes which need to be filled….it takes a little imagination.

If people want a job, most often they can get one.

      1. ..but..but, the greedy 1% in Wash Co. are keeping down the man.
Besides, arranging the availability of medicine is very enterprising.

      2. it used to have such a big population ….i remeber driving through in the early 70s with my grandparents ….and places such as pembroke maine had a chevy dealer …it cant support used car dealers now ….

      3. Harry, they do upholstery work down at the Bucks Harbor Correctional Facility.  I hear they do good work and since the inmates are the ones working, it’s pretty cheap.

  4. Isn’t anybody sad about this?  Are there people in your area trying to fix this?  All the remarks seem so mean.

  5. most of the comments are made without actual fact- 1st off the mug shot is takin with a video camera you stand there while being talked to and then they pick which picture they want so I doubt the smile was on purpose…second, everyones innocent until proven guilty, and third and most important Ashleys son is being cared for BY HIS MOTHER… anyone that thinks he shouldnt be and is better with his grandparents – doesnt know much about this whole situation you read a bdn artical and think you know all the ins and outs you don’t because if you did.. than you’d be worried for her sons welfare does washington county want another LORD BOY? people make mistakes… its a small chapter in a lifelong book…keep adding your comments you guys aren’t going to beat these three up more then they are all beating themselves up..

    1.  Well either you got a slap on the wrist (seems common for drug dealers) or someone has hacked your account.

    2. Ashley – you a a physically beautiful person, who has made a few mistakes. Stay away from the “so called” friends, get back in school. Turn your life around. Stay away from the drugs – and people who use them. Get involved with helping others – in a good way. Be actively involved with raising your child – as that needs to be your primary focus!

    3. Ashley, you can’t dwell on things here. Take the opportunity to realize this a low point regardless of your thoughts of innocence. Think of it as an opportunity to seek help and get on the right track. It can be done! Everyone deserves better and the help is there. Prove these people wrong and do the right thing.

    4. erased my comment about the BRAGG GIRLS they are worried about,,,, but that is ok I just hope that you THANK THE LORD FAMILY for everything they have done for your son and count your blessings they are GOOD people!!

  6. OK, so I have a few questions here.

    1. Search warrants were executed for:  A. Drugs…ok, 3 got arrested for that. B. Weapons…..what kind and who was in possesion of them? And, C. Money……who and how much??

All this article states at the end is, pending further investigation, other arrests are possible. Doesn’t state whether an investigation is pending about the weapons or cash…….what’s up with that??

  7. I see too much focus here on attacking other bloggers for being rude and nosy and whether it is proper to investigate people who have been accused of breaking the law.

Instead, let’s focus on the fact that laws were broken, and lives are being destroyed by drugs. There are lots of drug abusers in Washington County, and associated crimes, i.e. robbery. I know some people will make excuses for these druggies, blame it on the economy, lack of jobs here, etc., but it is time to focus on taking responsibility for your own life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If you want it to be good, don’t get involved with drugs.

Teenagers, if  you need something to do, and you can’t work, at the very least, volunteer to help somebody else who needs help. It will be good for you and good for him / her too. Keep busy, and stay away from drugs.

  8. I quit Drinking when I was in my late twenties. I know first hand about “making your own personal hell,” and “beating yourself up.” I try VERY hard not to judge other people who make mistakes, but this does not sound like a “drugs for personal use” operation.  It sounds like the police busted a store.

If I’m wrong, please correct me.

  9. I would like to say: Thank you Donnie Smith, Washington County Sheriff’s Dept and all those involved for a job well done! Keep up the good work!

    1. Yes, thank you Mr Smith for allowing THIS agency to be graced by your deputies who do no wrong…truely I mean this. Then again, he is running out of agencies to not play nice with  :)

  10. Congrats to the U.S. Coast Gaurd for the investigation and needing a law enforcement arm outside of your jurisdiction. In turn calling law enforcement (Sherriff dept). Many more down here to get and starts up the road from me…good luck and be careful

  11. HEYYY….where ya been? Was expecting some of your….ummmmm……..comments on this whole episode long before this!!! LOL

  12. this makes me laugh, knowing that you can smile in a mug shot, never been happier to see all three of them arrested. GOOD JOB WCSD!!  3 crackheads arrested charged and released only to be caught on bail conditions.. to call them self parents when they are doing this?  what do any of your children have to look up too? and to come on her and defend yourself, don’t waste your time nor anyone else’s. spend your time realizing what you are doing to your child, and everyone else’s children selling drugs.

    1. Caught on bail conditions?? They’ve been caught already violating bail conditions? They just got out yesterday!

      1. not yet but its a matter of time….. once they get kicked out of methodone clinic what else do they have to resort too!!

  13.  weather it was video tape or not why would be smiling after being arrested and charged. sorry ashley its not a modeling session  but i hope you like orange!!
