BATH, Maine — A Bath man faces multiple charges after he ransacked his apartment in a drunken rage early Sunday morning and then fought with the officers who came to arrest him, said Bath Police Chief Michael Field.
Sean Boynton, 44, is being held in Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset on $1,500 bail, but won’t be released because he violated conditions of release from a previous incident, said Field. For Sunday morning’s fracas, which happened just after midnight, Boynton was charged with Class C assault on an officer, Class D refusing to submit to arrest, Class D terrorizing and Class E violation of conditions of release.
A resident of Boynton’s Oak Street apartment building reported hearing a family fight at about 12:15 a.m. When Bath Officers Jason Aucoin and Brett McIntire responded to the apartment, they could hear noises inside, which turned out to be Boynton destroying items in the living room, including throwing a television on the floor, Field said.
The officers announced themselves, but Boynton shouted profanity at them and would not open the door. A short time later, Boynton’s 16-year-old son came out of the apartment, visibly frightened by what he had just witnessed.
The officers entered the apartment and found the living room in disarray and Boynton intoxicated and belligerent, said Field. They told Boynton he was under arrest for being in violation of his conditions of release, which caused Boynton to become aggressive, according to a press release. He would not obey verbal commands and pulled away when officers tried to grab his hand. Aucoin used a Taser on Boynton, but the stun gun had no effect. Field said Boynton’s size, about 5 feet, 11 inches and more than 200 pounds, as well as his intoxication level could have contributed to the Taser having no effect on him.
“It’s uncommon to begin with for officers to get into struggles like this as a norm and for someone not to be affected by the Taser is extremely uncommon,” said Field. “I can’t think of another situation in Bath where this happened.”
After being Tasered, Boynton allegedly attacked the two officers and began fighting with them. The officers were able to wrestle Boynton to the floor, where he continued to fight. At one point Boynton was able to stand up and he tried to flee, lunging out the door of the apartment and against a second-floor railing, but the officers were able to pull him back inside. Aucoin’s uniform was torn in the fight and he suffered injuries to his forearm and wrist. Field said Aucoin’s injuries were not serious.
Aucoin and McIntire were eventually able to subdue Boynton and handcuff him. Boynton remained at Two Bridges Regional Jail Monday morning. Field said Boynton has a long list of past convictions, many of them related to alcohol and drug use.

The police beat is getting longer and longer with stuff like this. So many violent people, and drunk to boot. The poor kid with a father like that.

Let’s hope DHHS steps in and take the minor out of the home……and keep this guy in jail.

Just goes to show you, tazers aren’t all their cracked up to be. He is lucky the cops didn’t fear for their lives or he would have been shot.
Tazers usually don’t do much good if the offender is on drugs, ie PCP.
My bad, I missed the part where it said he was on p.c.p.
The look on his face makes me think that he is proud of himself.
Not my take at all , I see a sad little boy badly in need of some drug and alcohol treatment program and maybe should be sentenced to serve some time in church !
Talk about a 3 ringlet circus.
Time to bring in the clown.
Here come da judge!!!!
I hope he will stay in jail for a long time, Just look at this punk, he has looooooooser written all over him! I also wish there was some thing we could do for the young man. This poor kid must see and hear a lot of things that kids just don’t need to see or hear, I hope he is not involved in any Physical violence. Hay DHHS, Maybe this is one case to look into!
