AUGUSTA, Maine — Authorities say two men claiming to be armed made off with prescription painkillers after robbing an Augusta pharmacy.
Police say the men entered the Rite Aid pharmacy at about 7:30 p.m. on Monday and passed a note to a pharmacy employee saying they had a weapon and were willing to harm the employee if that person did not cooperate.
The thieves were given the drugs they demanded and fled on foot.
No one was hurt.
Both suspects were described as white men with thin builds, one about 5-foot-11, one about 5-8.
State police used dogs to try and track the men, but it is believed they got into a vehicle to leave the area. There have been no arrests.

Next? It’s time to fill your prescriptions ONLY through Drive Thru windows! It’s a shame, but the world is fast filling with SCUMBAGS!
The Pharmacy is in the back of the store for a reason, in just about the same position as milk in the grocery store. You have to pass alot of temptations to get there. Without the revenue generated by the retail portion of any operation expensive drugs would substanially rise even more. How much food business have gas stations lost now that most of us pay at the pump?
….
I don’t believe BDN reported it, but the CVS Pharmacy in Augusta was robbed a week ago by two men with similar descriptions.

Arm the Pharmacist! After a few of these clowns get blown away, maybe the rest will have second thoughts!
My daughter is a pharmacist- Could you tell me what’s in it for her and her technicians to “blow away” an armed drug addict ? If you’ve had ever been held up at gun point ( I have) trust me- you do what you are told-real fast.
What’s in it for her?
how about avoiding ending up like these victims that were brutally murdered in their pharmacy:

” A gunman shot four people inside a pharmacy in a New York suburb Sunday morning, killing everyone inside the store in what police said looked like a robbery gone wrong.”
You can’t possibly know that some robber is just looking for drugs.
They might just want to eliminate the witnesses to their crimes.
The point it, if you have the ability to defend yourself, then at least you have a fighting chance to live another day.
After the bad guys figure out that the Pharmacists are “packing” is there a chance that they start taking other employees hostage? I’m curious how you think that someone with a gun pointed at them grabs a gun from under the counter and wins that battle. Where would all of this end? Do we give all bank employees weapons? Regardless, I doubt that any insurance company would go along with such an idea.I was held up at gun point outside of a bank in my car over 30 years ago-whatever you think you would do it that spot goes away real fast with a gun barrell stuck in your ribs. Thanks for the comment!
Again, better to be armed and have a fighting chance than to be unarmed.

Pharmacist shoots, kills robber that started firing at him:

now on the other hand we can see hundreds, maybe thousands of examples where unarmed clerks, pharmacists, bank tellers, delivery men, or other innocent people were shot and killed because they were denied their right to keep arms and defend themselves.
Maybe some of these more vunerable pharmacy’s should consider plain clothed armed security guards.
But then again we know who would end up paying for that one. But then again it would create a good number of jobs!
He77 let’s go for it Governor!!!
What do you want to bet it’s the same two that robbed the Stone St. CVS last week. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if it were. Pretty soon all these pharmacy’s will be using bulletproof glass and regular people will have a hard time getting there medications because of a few.
It’s getting to the point that pharmacies will have to be like a jail. Razor wire fencing around the perimeter of the building, and guards at the door to frisk everyone for weapons before they can go in.
Anybody notice a major increase in crime lately ? Its the same theme , I want a new drug, one that doesnt stink, one that dont make me to high, one that will take me to the brink, one that will keep me from having to think, think, think ! Do Do TA DO DO ! Same ole song !
I thought the pharmacies had GPS trackers they would include in pill bottles in case of a robbery. Something needs to be done or these drug abusers will be holding up every pharmacy in the country.
