OLD TOWN – Lawrence Edward “Larry” Grindle, 71, passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, in Bangor. He was born April 22, 1940, son of Albert and Marjorie (Jellerson) Grindle.
Larry was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who devoted his life to loving and providing for his family.
Larry and his wife, Ruth, would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June of this year. He had a special connection with each of his daughters and the times spent with their dad meant so much to them. His grandchildren were also very special to him and he had special times with each of them, and they all thought the world of their grandfather. He had a sense of humor that made people truly enjoy his presence. While working for Pie Plate, Old Town, for 20 years, Larry also held down a second job to support his family. He later retired from International Paper where he had worked for 25 years.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ann Grindle; three daughters, Deborah Dugan and husband Stephen Sr., of Bradford, Linda Daudelin-Harmon and husband, MF Harmon, of Scarborough, and Julie Blue and husband, Scott, of Brewer; four grandchildren, Randi Dugan, Amanda Daudelin, Ryan Blue and Hannah Blue; one stepgrandson, JR Dugan; and one brother, Ernest Grindle. In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond, George and Robert.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Holy Family Church, 429 Main St., Old Town. All are invited to a light luncheon after the service in the parish hall. Burial will be at a later date in Bradford. In lieu of flowers, cards of condolences may be sent to Ruth Grindle, 39 Sixth St., Old Town, ME 04468.
