SOUTHWEST HARBOR – B. Conley Worcester Jr., 90, died Feb. 21, 2012. He was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Southwest Harbor, son of Ben C. and Sophie (Ramsdell) Worcester.

On June 23, 1942, he married his high school sweetheart, Annabel Janet Dam. In September 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a forward observer during World War II in Europe, from September 1944 to January 1946, and received the Bronze Star. In 1951, he joined Chicopee Manufacturing Co., a division of Johnson and Johnson, New Brunswick, N.J. He was director of quality assurance when he retired in 1979.

Conley is survived by his wife, Alice (Sargent) Worcester; Alice’s daughters, Gloria Austin and Mary Farnsworth; cousin, Grace Hinckley Johnson; sons, Mark C. Worcester and his wife, Constance, and Ben C. Worcester III; daughter, Damaris W. Smith; grandchildren, Megan W. Hills and her husband, Nate, Rain W. Holbrook and her husband, Todd, Jennifer P. Williams and her husband, C.J., Ross H. Worcester, Anna L. Smith, and Rebecca R. Smith; great-grandchildren, Hayden Emerson Hills and Sophie Lydia Hills; and nieces, Mary Louise Curtis and her husband, Myron, Juliemae W. Swan, and Molly L. Woodsum and her husband, Richard. Conley was predeceased by his wife, Annabel (Dam) Worcester; his second wife, Dorothy Lee “Daisy” (Boardman) Worcester; sister, Idabelle W. Long; brother, Alfred S. Worcester; and grandson, Shayne C. Worcester.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Southwest Harbor Congregational Church, 29 High Road, Southwest Harbor.
