PORTLAND, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage is in Washington for the National Governors Association’s winter meeting, where the focus is on job creation and economic growth.

The three-day meeting kicks off Saturday and includes sessions with President Barack Obama, members of his Cabinet, business leaders and other experts for discussions of issues affecting states.

LePage will be attending sessions on growing the economy, economic development, reducing health care costs while improving services, education, energy and the changing role of the National Guard.

LePage and his wife will join other governors and their spouses on Sunday for dinner at the White House with Obama and his wife.

      1. Yeah, I’ve noticed LePage doesn’t look like he’s been skipping any meals lately. Must be because of all the stress he endures making stupid decisions.

        1. I hope they go into WW3 and those guys in black suit’s lock the door from the outside.best thing for us put the senater’s and presidential candidates in there also.I bet it would cut our national budget by 80% of the dead wieght.

    1. He’ll probably be the only governor with the good grace to ask for a doggie bag for his leftovers, if he has any.

    2. With all the ranting and raving that the state of Maine can’t afford anything he seems to have no problem spending its hard earned tax payers money to go down to DC and party and that is basically what the governor’s convention is. Are any of the local papers reporting that four states are not attending because they’re responsible governors decided they  had more important things to do and stayed at home. I hope the White House Bakers bake alot of cake because this governor LaPage sure likes to take it. Does anyone know what this trip cost the Maine taxpayer? Lapage should have put the states wallet where his mouth is and stayed at home.

    1. He should tell Obama’s where to go and give them the bird.  He should tell them what we already know that they are a joke and destroying our country.  That they are dumbing down our country into a Socialist Welfare Haven.  In reality he shouldn’t give these folks the time of day they aren’t worth it.  Well the Obama’s will have more time on their hands because they will be voted out of office in November. That will be the real change the majority of America wants.

      1. After Paul gives them the bird he can tell Obama how the MAJORITY of Maine voters voted for him for governor.

Neither current events nor history show that the majority rule, or ever did rule.   – Jefferson Davis

        1. If gas is more than 5 bucks a gallon in November, just might be one and done for Obama, regardless of who the Republicans run.

          1. So, what’s your point? He’s as powerless as a republican president with a hostile House to do anything about it. Blame him for what he can control, but not what he can’t.

      2. Hey DC how have you been? I see you are of the opinion that the Obama’s will be leaving the White House next January. Who do you suppose will take his place? Do you think Mitt will be able to convince enough of those on the radical right that he is a conservative? I’ve been watching the debates and from what I can see he is the guy Obama stole Obamacare from. How about Newt? Do you think that women really like a guy that calls his current wife from his lover’s bed to suggest an open marriage? Do you really believe Freddie Mac paid him $1.5 million plus just for a history lesson? How do you feel about Ron Paul? He actually makes some sense so I suppose that will make him a hard sell for conservatives. Do you think Rick Santorum will be the nominee? He comes across as a conservative. Seems to want to get into more wars and is against earmarks except when he is the one getting them. He might be your man if you think bringing a dead baby home for your kids to kiss and hold and play with for a few hours is a good idea. So DC just which one of these guys do you think will be moving into the White House?

        1. I dunno, I for one do not look forward to 4 more years of record-breaking deficits, not even trying to pay down the national debt, nationalizing of 1/6 of the economy called Obamacare, more regulation and stifling of entrepreneurship, mindless environmentalism going amok, 10 dollar a gallon gas, home heating fuel so expensive that there will need to be an exodus from Maine.

          1. Did you find anything wrong with the way GWB ran the country? If I remember correctly he inherited a balanced budget and a budget surplus and a plan to pay down the debt.

          2. I did  not care for the run up of the deficit by GWB either, but it appears that the current administration is not even trying  to be responsible. It is as if they want to run the deficit up to an absolutely unsustainable level; buying votes along the way until the day of reckoning comes and we inflate our way out of this mess. Inflation is a tax on wealth, a kick in the teeth for those who do the right thing and save for a rainy day.

          3. Clinton was the only president in something like 60 years to leave office with a Surplus some1 call him back and tell monika to get her rear in the oval office and into the prone position NOW!!!

          4. Obama can’t get anything done because the republicans hold the majority in the House. They’re blocking him. Whose fault is it really that we aren’t moving forward, his or theirs?

        2. I don’t care who wins alot of us working people we just want someone new.  Anyone but Obama to us.  We are tired of all of  the handouts, Welfare, Bailouts, High Taxes, Liberal Programs that don’t work.  We want change and would even take Palin or Chris Christie if they brought them in at the convention.  At least they are miles ahead of what we have now.  Only Liberals want the status quo because 4 more years of Obama this country will be headed to complete Socialism.

          1. Hi again DC did you get much snow up your way? It has been cool here today. Hey I really do hope that the Republicans bring back Palin. Saturday Night Live hasn’t been the same without Tina Fey doing her Palin inpersonation. At least it would be good for a few laughs. Did you happen to catch any of your man LePage in the Nation’s Capitol today. He wrote off all of the current Republican candidates for President. He also tossed “Crazy” Charlie Webster under the bus as well. I’m actually starting to worry. LePage is saying the same things I am.

          2. He is like the rest of us we have had enough of NoBama and the Liberals who have destroyed our country.  He wants to get him out because getting Obama out our country will move in a better direction.  Then we can cut spending , lower taxes and create more jobs. Instead of having little to no growth, bailing out everyone, increased welfare and our taxes continuing to rise.

          3. sigh… you don’t get it do you?

Neither Republicans or Democrats are providing the economic solutions that we need.   The GOP position is cut and spend while the Democratic position is tax and spend.   We can cut enough or tax enough to support our bloated government and military.  Until we rally behind a candidate that is willing to tell it like it is and make the drastic changes necessary to repair damage done by BOTH parties; we will be in the same old mess.

      3. How did Obama destroyed the US?

It was the last administration that killed the economy, two wars and doubled the debt. Now that is destroying a country.

        1. He just hates everything democrat. That snowstorm we had yesterday, that was the democratic party’s fault too, right dc?

        1. How about you Liberals and Welfare Bums do us a favor get off your lazy butts and get jobs.
Stop living off of us working people.  We are tired of paying for the Welfare Crowd. We voted for real change and we want the change we voted for in 2010.

      1. Just like Liberals here in Maine who continue to say dumb things during the budget process but try to make it look like the Republicans are the ones holding Mainers taxpayers hostage.

        1. That’s right. It’s us vs. them no matter what the issue. That’s what’s been bogging us down in Washington and Augusta for well over a year now. Get a job.

        2. If my memory serves me right, the Democrats merely wanted to review a last minute ammendment and took the weekend to do that. They didn’t want the budget bill rammed through like the medical insurance bill was.  And I believe it was the Governor who has been holding the state hostage for the last few months with his threats. Maybe you shold take a day and head to Augusta and spend some time at the Legislature. That way you might really know what’s going on.

  1. It will be interesting to see if anyone important is willing to be photographed with Lepage.   I fully expect Lepage to come back with a bunch of “stories” about all the secret meet and greets  he had with famous people.

    1. Yeah, and the repubs. will probably approach him and ask him to consider a presidential run when he’s done screwing Maine up.

      1. And I suppose the NY Times, MSLSD, ABC, CNN and CBS do?

Fox News at least gathers their own news.   The above all get it from Media Matters, a far left organization if there ever was one.

/Silly facts getting in the way

          1. At least it’s better than what comes out of the mouths of CNN’S AND MSNBC’S Liberal Spinmeisters like  Wolf  Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Martin Bashir, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz, Rev. Al Sharpton, Erin Burnett, Lawrence O’ Donnell .

          2. Oh, it’s better all right.  Seldom true, always spun, but certainly entertaining in the same way the Three Stooges were.  See  John Stewart’s show each night for the funniest clips.

          3. John Stewart their is a standard to use.  Is that why he stunk doing music videos on MTV.  Now he had to take over the Daily Barf Bag on Comedy Central because he can’t do anything else. He fits in well with Liberals he is just as dim minded,  talentless and  lazy as they are.

          4. Did you notice what happened last week in Virginia ?  A woman state senator pushed a bill through that mandated an intrusive sonogram before an abortion could be considered.  It was supported by the governor. That examination required insertion of an internal device that can only be described as horrendous.  Required it even for a girl or woman who had been unwillingly or forcibly impregnated.

John Stewart took 5 minutes to describe this would-be state-required procedure, something that could be equated to a punishment from the Dark Ages.  The next morning, the governor withdrew his support for the bill, and the state senator withdrew the bill and slunk off.

Now, maybe John S. IS dim witted, talentless and lazy. I’m an independent who is voting liberal this year, and I certainly have a touch of all of those attributes. But, give me those results any day.

You can go back to watching MTV now.

          5. Why don’t you and the “adults” go back to smoking the weed , drinking the booze, breathing in the smog,  hugging the trees , and protecting your birds and bugs nobody cares about.  Doing what Liberals do best absolutely nothing.  While the Republicans and Independents us cleaning up the mess the Democrats made.

          6.  You’re quick to throw the liberal stone at me when you don’t know who I am or who I will vote for. I will tell you this, I will keep an open mind and vote what I think is good for my state and country. If Cleaning up the “Mess” restricts you to closed mindedness then it both your and my loss.

  2. Hope the great one doesn’t decide this is the time to flip the President and request a kiss on the seat of his intellect.

    1.  Yeah! And then the President could scrape off his shoes and say, “Oh I’m sorry.  I thought you said KICK your butt!”

    1.  hopefully someone has him on a short leash. maybe  Andrienne Bennett. Obama is a gentleman, he can handle LePage and as a backup the Secret Service will be nearby.

  3. There was a  Maine  Governor couple years back famous for his compassion and wisdom
who also was the pupil of a great spiritual teacher going on 30 years.
One day after much meditation the Governor signed a proclamation turning over all his power to run the state to his spiritual teacher.
He took the proclamation to his teacher who lived in a small hut up behind the Augusta airport.
He handed the proclamation to his teacher who read it and handed the document back to the Governor
and said” Great, now you run the State of Maine for me”.

    1. I remember that like it was yesterday, I think the proclamation went like this…
      The Republican Party of Maine
      Has apparently gone quite insane.
      It has managed to fill
      Its new platform with swill.
What an odd way to run a campaign.
      But citizens tend to ignore
      Party platforms — they’re often a bore.
      So Dems, spread the word
      Re this platform absurd.
Cuz (if known) it has little allure.

  4. Of course the festivities that the Governors are attending will be nowhere near as lavish as the dinner thrown for the Communist Leader of China.

  5. Yet another opportunity for our Accidental Governor to embarrass the people of Maine on a National level again.

    1. I think Baldacci beat him to it by running Maine’s state finances into the ground, not to mention encouraging the Paul Violette scandals to rule the MTA.  Oh yes, Baldacci’s appointee, Dale McCormick, in the MSHA is another one going down for more Baldacci scandals in ME State Government.  So who again embarrassed the good State of Maine?

Governor LePage is representing Maine very well and I couldn’t be prouder that the Maine people are now first, along with our students.  For once, we have an honest Governor who tells the truth and holds the government accountable to the Maine people.

      Go LePage!

  6. Oh, please, please  god, don’t let our governor embarrass Maine, again.  Keep your almighty hand over his mouth and numb his angner  either with your spirit or other available spirits.

  7.   Anyone familair with the book “It Can’t Happen Here”? On another subject, BDN, Nice show of respect for the OFFICE of the President re “… with Obama and his wife.

  8. Why would our Great Governor Paul LePage!!!  sit and have dinner with someone,  who has such disrespect for our constitution. The Obama’s hate america and are destroying it.. Please don’t go Governor Paul LePage!!!

    1. The Repubs led by their presidential candidates are turning this country into a joke. Many in other countries just can’t believe the ignorant nonsense being spouted off in their campaigns.

  9. >>>>>> which LePage said breaks Ronald Reagan’s rule about not speaking ill of a fellow Republican.<<<<<<<<< After which Lepage proceeded to insult every single Republican nominee as well as the head of the  Maine Republican party..
Lepage has got to be the dumbest Governor in the history of civilization.

  10. BANGOR DAILY NEWS….It would be much more respectful to refer to our Governor as Governor LePage rather than LePage! Please show the same respect as you have to those Governors who have pretty much destroyed Maine and all that it has stood for centuries.
    THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. They open with the title and then afterwards just use his name. The same is done for Obama.

      Chill out, Henrietta.

    2. They do that to everyone and is nothing wrong with it, they could have referred to him as Penguin, Liar, Tea Bagger, etc

  11. I believe I remember La Plague saying he had something to say to our President when he saw him??  Anyone else remember that?

  12. He could give Obama a lot of good advise.  He created more jobs with Great Northern then Obama did with billions spent on renewable energy.
