CALAIS – Judith Mariah Moffitt, 84 years young, passed away peacefully Feb. 23, 2012, with her family by her side. She was born and raised in Grand Lake Stream.
She was a member of Second Baptist Church, Calais, where she took great pleasure singing in the choir. She enjoyed word find and jig saw puzzles, cookouts with her family, yard sales and good old gospel and bluegrass music. Her special hobby was collecting angels and she took great joy in sharing those angels. She will be fondly remembered for the hugs she gave out, her warm and genuine smile and truly caring attitude toward all. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be warmly remembered and sadly missed, but will live on forever in the hearts of all of us she so lovingly touched.
She was predeceased by her parents, George and Hazel (Yates) MacArthur of Grand Lake Stream; sister, Lillian Boutilier; and brothers, George and Victor MacArthur. She is survived by sister, Stella Hartin of Waterville; brother, Hugh MacArthur of Waterville; sons, James and Gail Moffitt of Baileyville and Kenneth Moffitt and Terry of Big Lake Township; daughters, Phyllis Stevens of Calais and Beverly Casey of Calais; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Josh, Shannon, Billie-jo, Valerie, Starly, Tara, Gwen, Amanda and Joseph; 23 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Second Baptist Church, Calais. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maine Cancer Foundation.
