BANGOR, Maine — An intoxicated Bangor man who was screaming at a woman was arrested last week after he threw a beam into the side of their Essex Street apartment building, police said.
Kenneth Emfinger, 49, was yelling drunkenly on Feb. 21 outside the apartment he shares with the woman, and the beam broke some glass on the front door, Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
Edwards said when Officer Taylor Bagley arrived at the scene, the suspect was spotted with the beam in his hand.
“[He] threw the beam into the side of the building,” the sergeant said.
Emfinger was arrested without incident, and was charged with domestic criminal mischief, a Class D misdemeanor. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail.
The woman was not injured.

More chinks in our social mortar.
Doesn’t take much to get arrested these days.
this happened a week ago. Is the BDN now the BWN?
Yup BDN has nothing better to do …my buddy’s are up from California and they said they love it here walking on a frozen lake in snowshoes was the highlight of the trip …but they read the BDN and couldn’t believe they would report on such stupid stuff ….”like a man arrested for not having tags on his car ……..lets find some good stuff to report….BDN if you need some help finding a good story !why don’t you have a contest with all us commenters ..we would have to find a story and the winner would get there own colum . just do this every month”new winner every month” ..it could just be an online colum….just an idea to stop all this stale reporting ….
But being from Cali,I’m sure there is alot more going on day to day to plug up their news than Maine does(murders, burglaries, other crimes, celebrity mishaps, etc. …)
Alot of the news here , yes ,would fall thru the cracks so to speak , in a larger city/population.
Their scanner is busted and they are trying to retrain them to use telephones. It’s either that or walk to the BPD and ask who how what where when and why.
Doesn’t the beam belong inside the building? I like mine fastened.
I’d like to meet the guy that can ‘hold a beam in his hand’. More likely a scrap of 2×4 he picked up off their well manicured lawn…
Choosing the wrong terminology can sure make a story humorous. :)
Beam? Jim Beam?
Just imagine how much worse it would have been if he had been on cigarettes, he might have actually thrown it through a window and hit the lady.
