MILLINOCKET – Jane McPheters MacKay, 74, passed from this life to eternal life Monday, Feb. 27, 2012. She was born March 12, 1937, in Millinocket, a daughter of Ellsworth “Pete” and May A. (McDonald) McPheters.

Jane was a Christian foremost and attended LaGrange Full Gospel Assembly. She graduated from Stearns High School, class of 1955, and was employed at Millinocket Regional Hospital and Katahdin Nursing Home, now known as Katahdin Healthcare, for many years. She enjoyed a lifelong hobby of crocheting and knitting. Most of the winter months during the past 22 years were spent in Florida with her husband.

Surviving are her loving husband of 35 years, Grant MacKay; a daughter, Bethanie Blaisdell of Hancock; a son, L. Thomas Blaisdell of Shelburne, Vt.; two grandsons, Steven L. Roberson of Mariaville and Joshua Roberson and his wife, Stacie, of Franklin; two brothers, Peter McPheters and his wife, Janice, of Millinocket and Paul McPheters and his wife, Paula, of Brewer; a special sister, Mary McPheters Blackfeather of Gray; a sister-in-law, Jill MacKay Scott and her husband, Greg; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Christian graveside service will be held in the spring at Millinocket Cemetery. Remember the poor and those in the homeless shelters, the social outcasts. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
