PITTSFIELD, Maine — An intoxicated Newport man faces four charges after kicking out a window of a police cruiser while on his way to jail, police say.

Guyfred Hickey, 32, was arrested Saturday night and was charged with criminal trespass, refusing to submit to arrest or detention, aggravated criminal mischief and refusing to sign a criminal summons, Pittsfield Sgt. Tim Roussin said on Sunday.

Police were called to a residence at Deer Hill Apartments at 8:09 p.m. Saturday with reports of an intoxicated man knocking on the door of an apartment.

“He threw coffee brandy all over the window and threw a glass bottle,” said Roussin. “I guess he got out of control.”

Roussin said Maine State Police had Hickey in custody before handing him off to Pittsfield police.

While being transported to Somerset County Jail in Madison, Hickey kicked out the rear window on the driver’s side of the Pittsfield police cruiser and broke an antennae.

“He kicked out one window already and was working on the second window,” Roussin said.

Roussin said a Pittsfield police officer injured his shoulder during the arrest.

Hickey was still in jail as of Sunday afternoon.

According to Bangor Daily News archives, Hickey has an extensive history with police.

In 2001, he was indicted by a Somerset County grand jury for six counts of burglary to a motor vehicle, five counts of theft, criminal mischief, eluding an officer and operating a vehicle after suspension.

Five years later, he was indicted by a Waldo County grand jury for criminal operating while under the influence of intoxicants and operating beyond licence suspension.

A year later in 2007, he was again indicted by a Somerset County grand jury for burglary and theft.

    1. What happen to the good ole days when a drink of Maine Champagne would at the very most is get some teenager pregnant ?

  1. He must have been having a flashback to his ‘burglary’ years…..”There’s a window, kick kick, “shoot can’t get through that one….Oh, but here is another one…..”

    1. I would think that if you’re able to move around in the back seat enough to turn sideways and kick out a window, it’s time for a “break check” if you know what I mean. ;-)

  2. Something promising Allen’s hats and T-shirts would be the perfect sting operation here.

  3. Alchohol the legal drug. Maine has its main drink. Getting people everywhere, free transportation again, I see. When are people going to learn, a drug is a drug. Who cares if the state says its legal. The state can legalize euthenasia, but I’m not going to put myself down. They can legalize prostetution, but I’m not applying for the job, even if I was 20 years younger.  Anything that isn’t safe, seems reasonable for us to self regulate.

  4. This would have never had happened if “The Hashenator” made the arrest and transported him to jail.

  5. This would have never had happened had “The Hashenator” from Troop E made the arrest and transport to jail.
