FAIRFIELD – Carleen Alice Luckern, 77, joined God’s family Friday, March 2, 2012. She was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Bangor, daughter of the late Anthony and Eva (Mayo) Madore.

Carleen lived and raised her family in Millinocket before moving to the Fairfield area in 1984. She touched so many people with her kindness and thoughtfulness. She was a very special mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Carleen truly enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carleen also enjoyed watching classic movies, especially with her dog Bandit at her side, having breakfast at Kmart, and walking at Colby College with her friend Betty Doody, which she did for many years.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas D. Luckern Jr.; her daughter, Kathleen A. Luckern; her grandson, Matthew A. Dickinson; and her sister, Patricia A. Ebbett. Carleen will be sadly missed by her sons, Thomas D. Luckern III and his wife, Judy, of Fairfield, Scott A. Luckern of Berlin, N.H., John W. Luckern and his wife, Sherry, of Benton and Christopher P. Luckern and his wife, Jennifer, of Fairfield; her daughters, Julie A. Kelley and her husband, Roy, of Fairfield, Patricia L. Dickinson and her husband, Kurt, of East Millinocket and Laura A. Breingan and her husband, Danny, of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The family thanks all the staff at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, Waterville, for the compassionate care Carleen received during her stay.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 26 Monument St., Winslow. Burial will take place in the spring in Millinocket. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carleen’s memory may be made to Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901.
